    Camper Interior 87 Toyota van

Never understood why people want to go camping in an SUV or van and open all the doors and hatches so they can use all of their stuff. The inside will quickly fill with dirt/dust, bugs and god knows what else, all of which gets into your bedding, seats, clothes and whatever else is inside your...

    The Ute II: E350 RB 7.3 ZF6

Cool build man, just read the entire thread. How do you find the power with 3.73's and 35" tires? IIRC, the NC271/3 is a 2.72 ratio and you have a granny first, so crawling should be half decent, but that seems to be a big tire for that gear in a loaded van. cheers

    06 fuso fe over heating

I did some testing on my 07 FE yesterday. Temps were in the mid 90's *F, the air conditioning was on full blast. Flat highway, no traffic to speak of, top speed of 78 MPH. Temp gauge went all the way through the red zone and hit the line on the other side within a few mins of getting on the...

Which model/motor do you recommend for an E350 build?

Anyone do a ZF-5 or ZF-6 behind a Ford diesel in a van? Sure would be nice for off roading, towing and long grades (climbing and descending) They are both pretty beefy trans and with a nice dual disc organic clutch, will take relatively high amounts of power (Luk, Southbend, Valair, etc) A 273...

    4m50 turbo upgrade

While you are upgrading, you might as well go all the way, sir: http://www.full-race.com/store/turbos/borgwarner-efr/borgwarner-efr-6258-turbo.html

    06 fuso fe over heating

I am more than happy to block off the EGR if you have done it with no problems and are willing to share how to do it. I have done a few Cummins trucks that way with friends who owned them. We just cut block off plates on a mate's plasma cutting table and covered up the holes. So I could do the...

So I Bought a ProMaster last year.

Please tell me the chic with the Duc is not hot. That would just add too much awesomeness to this thread.

    06 fuso fe over heating

empty truck, fins look good, as does intercooler Dealer said if EGR cooler was leaking, there would be coolant inside the cooling unit, which kind of looks like a plate cooler. This does three things: firstly, it keeps your EGR cooler from working properly, so now you have hotter than normal...

    Frame flex fundamental question

I don't think that it does isolate the box, hence my original post here about rigid mounting a box and using a properly designed suspension. Rob Gray is no dummy, so maybe he knows something I don't, but I just don't see that a few springs and some plastic as the answer.

    4m50 turbo upgrade

Looked at mine today, troubleshooting an over-heating issue and reminded myself how ridiculously small the turbos are on these trucks. Solutions (which you think the engineers at Mitsu would know, as they have been building trucks for a few years now) Properly sized turbo keeps EGT down...

    06 fuso fe over heating

Did a bit of testing on this today. Picked up a thermostat from the local dealer, but after I described the symptoms, they did not think that would fix the problem. Due to Fuso's $%#$#_ engineering, the thermostat is not accessible from the top as it should be. It is located on the lower...

    Frame flex fundamental question

^^ http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/25494-pivoting-frames-and-mounting-campers?p=1762802#post1762802 19 pages for your reading pleasure, sir. There are a few more around and I have a few pics saved, I can email them if you want. One has a UHMW "board" instead of an oak timber...

    4m50 highway use?

I stand corrected on the Steinbauer chip. It is available for FE and FG models, but only for the new 3L motor (4P10) and not for the 4M50, at least not on the US site. May check with the Aussies and see if they can get it for you. There is a chip for the USDM NPR (5.2L inline four), so I guess...

    4m50 highway use?

It may have handled more weight and/or more speed, but I was not willing to find out. I will check GVW on mine, but I don't think it is 18,000. I have never towed anything with it, so I cannot comment on performance there. Steinbauer (sp) makes a chip for my truck that provides about 260 hp and...

    Frame flex fundamental question

That Unicell box is an excellent example of what we are going after. I saw one mounted on a diesel Ford van a while back, but the driver, i.e. clueless worker bee, knew nothing about it. Hurry and close your box back up before all the 95 degree air gets in :D

    Frame flex fundamental question

Don't want to get too far off track from the frame thread and will start a build thread if the customer wants. Simple version is composite panels will be bonded and bolted together with some internal panel structure. There will not be a tube frame or "studs" like you would have in a house. The...

    4m50 highway use?

It was quite noticeable, lol. I ran back roads at 45-50 MPH and was very careful with cornering, braking, etc. The load was low COG and well distributed over the entire bed, as it was 1" thick sheets of a high density plastic that weighs about 400 pounds per sheet. I think I had 20 sheets on...

    4m50 highway use?

both, it has a flat bed on it and is used for "hauling" (I have had 6500 pounds on it) as well as for hauling a Polaris XP1000 RZR, which I drive onto the bed using 8 foot ramps. Easier than pulling a trailer and rides pretty good. RZR is about 1500 pounds loaded up with gear.

    Frame flex fundamental question

Frame Design/Spec: As mentioned, the Fuso's have narrower than normal (28-29" IIRC) frame rails and somewhat thin frames, so that is one of the reasons they WILL flex, whether you want them to or not. I have never owned a Mog, so I cant speak to that. I would presume that Mog typically have...
