I have an 07 and you are right, much more power than a 13, but its still not all that great. Was looking for an "upgrade" when I did the test drive on the 13 model and decided to keep what I have. The new trucks are awful IMO.
I have only done a 10-12 mile test drive on a 2013 FE, so I am not the one to comment on that in the long term, but the one I drove was a turd for sure and it was empty.
I do know the axle ratios are at least 5.13 and maybe 5.29 or even 5.71, so that is going to keep RPM up with small tires...
Simple answer: a truck frame is not a suspension component.
A rigid mounted box, such as the one the OP has is fine if mounted properly. I have owned and driven dozens of light duty and medium duty trucks over the last 20 years, everyone having a rigid mounted box or flat bed with hundreds of...
I have a set of Ford F-350 Superduty axles from a leaf sprung truck (2004) that are a perfect fit for the Fuso FE trucks. You would need to check on the FG, but that would give you multiple wheel options, as well as numerous gear ratio and locker choices, neither of which are available with the...
6 speed auto trans from the 2WD trucks is a derivative of Aisin's AS68RC.
With a tail-shaft change (about $1500 - 2000 in parts and labour), an NV271/273 transfer case will bolt right up to the Aisin, just like it does in the Dodge Cummins trucks. The newer trucks actually have Magna-Steyr...
Aero will play less of a role at speeds up to about 55-60 MPH (box vs flatbed). In the 07 FE with six speed auto trans and flat bed, I will average 15 MPG. If you get up to 65-70 MPH on the hwy, the MPG drops down to about 12-13.
The high RPM is a function of the gutless wonder that MFTB sought...
At least it's not 98 degrees and humid like it is on the east coast. Liquid sunshine and cooler temps would be nice about now. Definitely looking forward to seeing the inline six mocked up in there.
Some measuremnts sir, if you please:
Flat section of the driver's foot well, kind of where toes...
This video was taken in ZA. Does anyone know the model or brand of this piece?

I have never seen one set up quite like it before.
Chris,
Can't really say anything that has not already been said, but I do have a few questions when you get some time. Anyone else can chime in as well if they have the info. Thanks in advance.
How wide is the flat floor section of the driver's foot well?
What is the cab height on V4 with...
Bump for updates
Have you done any off road testing or suspension tuning yet? A previous post mentioned a nice ride, just curious if you guys were tuning in house or if King was assisting, since there are no off the shelf applications for King shocks for an NPR :D
How is the power with the...
I can say there were a few people, myself included, who were all too happy to duck into both the hardtop and soft top EC's at May's OvEx, in an effort to escape the snow for a second.
IIRC, the soft top heater was set on 3 out of 4 and the hard top heater was set on 2 out of 4. Both were toasty...
Chosen,
You mentioned some pretty high tech insulating fabrics earlier. Is there a specific material that I should search for? I would presume that the brands you have in Oz may not be available in the states. I have a heavy canvas two room tent that is about 12 feet by 16 feet, but it is old...
I don't presume that the guys building trucks are also the ones building the website, but maybe I am wrong.
Hire a reputable firm to build your site; it is your "face" to the world and what everyone will judge you by whether you like it or not.
I have friends and family in the business and you...
fixed it for you.
Being off camber is a very un-natural feeling for most, but it will take a lot to actually tip the truck over on its side. My 4Runner has been over several times and so has my XP1000 RZR and it really was surprising what it took to get there, but boy did it happen fast when...
A mate of mine has one about 10 years newer and with a tranny that he needs to get rid of if you run into any trouble with yours.
Looking forward to the repower.
You have done an excellent job building this truck and your English is quite good.
I have often wondered why more builders don't use the "cargo box" configuration instead of the factory "wagon" body. Unless you are going to be traveling on really tight trails, the box holds all of the...
