Land Cruiser converts, please weigh in on your post-conversion thoughts

So, I am a bit detail oriented on such specs because the cargo space and functionality is important to me. The G wins by 3 cubic feet. This does not even take into account that the LC 200 (which is bigger inside than the 100!) tapers up the sides when max widths are measured. This also...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

Eh? Aesthetically the Lr3 and LR4 got goofed up by being designed for non-UK market which is why the window dips on the right instead of left like it used to for Discovery 1 and 2. The tire was supposed to be mounted on the large portion of the door and the dip is to allow viewing the backup...

Anybody here ever gone from an LR 3/4 to a 200 series Land Cruiser?

ok, that's funny enough. Here you go then: :coffee: Anyway, regarding tools. I just discovered a shreaded rear air suspension strut cover/boot. No codes, no change in function, just a ripped apart dirt cover. It's just one of the reasons an lr3/4 bugs me, too many little cool things to...

Anybody here ever gone from an LR 3/4 to a 200 series Land Cruiser?

^pretty goofy question about tools. I thought this was a serious discussion. Mine 2007 lr3 has not needed any of the sort of tools you are implying so far in 67,000 miles. In fact, my 1996 Discovery never needed me to use tools either. It never left me stranded but I also follow good...

Anybody here ever gone from an LR 3/4 to a 200 series Land Cruiser?

You say the LC200 is comparable to the new RR but then go on to list how the RR is beyond the LC. Not to mention pricing. Similarly optioned RR is $95k. msrp LC is $80k. LC can be bought at invoice any time so the real price is around $73k. Best spec lr4 is $65k while the lr3 does not...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

Well fine Scott! ;) I took a pause, considered the important aspects, and I think I may agree with you mostly on concepts over all this stuff. However, the msrp pricing for 2013 G550 is $115k - LC200 $80k = $35k, not $50k. I do LOVE the G wagens!!!! It's entirely irrational! G63 $135k...

Similarly equipped, LR4 is $65k. They are both in the same pricing segment and almost identical in size/purpose/capabilities. LR4 seems like best overall value but I will definitley be watching these over the next 10 years with curiosity on reliability. My 1996 Disco never really let me down...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

I mainly got it for general code issues like reading and/or clearing the yellow engine lamp if my extra tank makes it pop up. The suspension control will just be a nice extra as I had already found a100% reliable and free way to gain full height without screwing around with rods. You just drop...

I think we use the word "comparison" differently. To me it's the whole package. If we were comparing only bits and pieces, it wouldn't make much sense. For example, the newest Range Rover beats all of these in "off the lot" build, if you're only comparing factory wading depth or long drive...

I just ordered one for my lr3 from Atlantic British and it will be here in a few days.... you should ask them.

---edited Also,.... you mention several times comparing an lr4 to a jeep....this doesn't make much sense to me except from a purely offroad point of view. The problem though is the jeep is basically just about being off road whereas the LR3 and lr4 are just as competent and being really sweet...

    Tundra and LC 200 Similarities?

I've read about someone on ih8mud putting Tundra front brakes on a LC200. I'm assuming that was for larger/better braking but have not researched the details. He also is putting the Tundra rear axle into the LC200 due to it's wider track by 3+" So, it seems a lot of stuff is transferable but...

Looking for a definitive answer - will 18" rims fit on an '09 G55 AMG?

That's funny stuff. You must have a cool partner there.

Looking for a definitive answer - will 18" rims fit on an '09 G55 AMG?

    A. The lr4 allowed 19's from the factory. B. 18" were easily available from europe for people "building up" an lr4. C. on any of these, smaller brake rotors could be installed to allow factory 18". For example, lr4 could just have lr3 front rotors, which are fantastically good braking as I...

Motor Trend video - 2013 G63 AMG vs 2013 Range Rover

Pretty good "interview" for a car magazine. A few nice camera angles underneath too. Thanks for posting. With all the comparisons available these days and a mindset of getting caught up in "specs" (I do this with the worst of them!), I loved the comment "forget about your brain, listen to...

Anybody here ever gone from an LR 3/4 to a 200 series Land Cruiser?

Rods just put you driving at highway speeds in lift height. Doesn't that seem stupid? The rods are not a pure lift, they are simply a trick which can be created in a simpler and less dangerous way. -there are better solutions for lift when it's needed such as the Black Box solutions EAS...

Anybody here ever gone from an LR 3/4 to a 200 series Land Cruiser?

Maybe I'll go do a comparison measurement of the LC200 I drove today but it is not as tall inside (edit: WRONG , it is actually average taller in 2nd and 3rd row areas!) and did not seem any longer from the back of the front seats to the rear cargo door (edit: wrong, it is longer by a little)...
