Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

I have more than their build and I have weighed in just over 8000 lbs on a solo trip (1 person!) (full RS sliders, full underside Rasta plates, 2nd air tank and air compressor, bigger 2nd battery, larger and heavier Hannibal rack, 2 awnings by Hannibal, RTT on some trips, jerry cans, etc) E...

    2006 LR3 build

I've never had such issues on mine. 65k so far, lot's of weight too so you'd figure it would have happened already if it were going to at all. Sorry to hear about the DII. Mine has been fine, although not driving it too much, but just enough, is surely a way to keep it from wearing out ;)

    2006 LR3 build

1- "suspension arms" are you saying new factory version or something else? Since what year did they become "new" and improved? 2- Aside from the Koni dampers, (I think Arnott is making something now too), are all the other parts factory bushings, etc?

    2008 Mercedes Bluetec Diesel

i'll bump your thread with a question: Why the heck didn't you list the MODEL of vehicle???? There are many different MB "bluetec diesels", even sedans.

    O'erlanderwagen build

I have the ARB version 3. There are pros and cons. I'm curious about your height claim, 59"??? Are you sure? < edit: I later realized his tent is the tall A-frame shaped Autohome, not the square/flat top version that is much shorter > Maybe that's underside to top outside but not inside...

    O'erlanderwagen build

As I understand the years, the G55 has never had the 7 spd transmission found in the GL. The 550 G 2009-2012 did though. The G55 2005-last year of it, 2011, had the 5 spd. With 2012, they both (G550 and G63) went to 7 spd but they are not the same either, the AMG gets the "speed shift plus"...

    roof top tent help

simple, invest in the best rack you can afford, like a Hannibal, then ad treated and sealed plywood, then ad your backpacking tent. spend the $ saved on a nice awning over the rear or side. I'm serious, give this some thought. Hannibal has a nice aluminum ladder that hangs off any rail side...

    LR3

??? "IIDTool" ? I want! Why would your tires rub? 255/60x19 is not huge, basically the same or less than my bfg 265/65x18 right? 31.5" tall. About the RTT swaying, on factory drop, mine seems quite stable and my ladder reaches the ground with plenty of angle. Maybe your ladder is...

    LR3 prices continue to fall

pre-1996 are the only range rovers worth having. this is also said by many master land rover techs.

    LR3 prices continue to fall

why are you posting about land rovers when you know nothing about them? incorrect information does no good for anyone else reading that may not know the truth. your numbers are not accurate regardless of the vehicle being used for example. obviously there was no "lr3 15 years ago". the...

Just Arrived in G-Wagen need some help with Thule or Yakima High towers

I have seen people use Thule gutter towers without any problems. Thule makes a few different heights and you may be able to just use their website "fit" function to get your answer......

Completed rear tire swing carrier for my LR3

oooh, and a grease port too?!!!! now I like the whole deal. Makes me think I probably ought to spend some time pulling my two carrier arms apart to grease again.

First time Offroading my new G550

BFG makes the AT in a 31.5" 265/65x18 that might fit in your X5 fenders. If not, try looking at Tire rack for sizes like 265/60x18 or 285/60x18 depending on your x5 rim width. I think the x5 is smallish oem tire though, maybe 29" but if so, that's the same as a Discovery 3 oem which is...

    No Concerns on 08s?

I don't know what a "red rider" is but the 09+ can be retrofitted with the proper towing configuration. For example Renntech has a kit for around $800 which to me looks basically like the bits that are missing from a European factory hitch option. You just have to have it all welded up and an...

Anybody doing an LR3 as an off-road rig?

If you really could be solidly lifted though, meaning stable and sharper handling than when fully lifted on air, then you could regain some ride comfort by way of lower pressure in larger tires. It's sounding more like a good idea at some point. If I could feel more stable with the weight...

Anybody doing an LR3 as an off-road rig?

There are kits now. For example Atlantic British has one. From what I read it's standard steel springs though, not "lift" versions. Being an independent suspension design, I can't imagine lift via taller and/or heavy duty springs is going to be simple because the geometry changes unlike when...

100 series LC/Lx470 vs Land Rover LR3 vs 1st generation Sequoia

So, I missed the glaring oversight on your part. "7 passengers" This is not an apples to apples comparison. LC100 - Personally, I would not want to sit in the LC 3rd row jump seat, at all, maybe, maybe if I were stuck on the side of the road 40 miles from nearest town and my GF had enough...

100 series LC/Lx470 vs Land Rover LR3 vs 1st generation Sequoia

yes, wow, that's really nice tire size options. Not that I need to roll down the highway for 1000's of miles on 33 or 35" but my lr3 would much more easily deal with the deeper snow roads I find myself on sometimes if I had another couple inches. Currently I use the 31.5" bfg at 265/65x18...
