Classic awful mechanic making it hard for the good ones

From now on, you ought to just buy MoGas a plane ticket to LAX, and let him go to town on whatever issue it is. The guy isnt boasting when he says he is a professional...he is damn good. Took the time to teach me some things, and other here can attest to the same. I hope that your issue is...

    Re-tread tires

Took mine to Discount Tires, and they did it without issue. The manager was actually quite curious about them. We're getting a decent sized storm through town now, with up to 2' expected; right now there is only a few inches of snow on top of some ice. I aired the tires down to about 25 PSI...

How would you build a simple yet capable FZJ80?

Word. The factory lockers arent even needed really...over-played by a lot of folks.

    Treadwrights and rain

Had mine for 3000 miles or so, from snow, ice and rain in Northern AZ to a long trip to the mountains of northern Mexico; 235/85/16, MT, no kedge flavor. No issues in the rain and ice, and they did awesome in the little bit of snow we had. Check a few threads down in "Re-tread Tires" if you...

    Cleb's FJ80 Build

Welcome to dogged reliability, and slow acceleration. Make yourself very well aquainted with the 80 Series section on www.ih8mud.com and with Cruiser Dan. If you don't know your history on the vehicle, start with a general check of everything and a "baseline". Check this page here for some...

    Re-tread tires

Had the GWB out in the snow and ice for the first time today, and was very pleased with the traction from the tires. Mind you, the 3FE doesnt provide enough power to break traction on normal surfaces, even loose dirt, but the ice and snow were such that traction was limited. No problem taking...

    Double Sleeping Bags

Well, the local outfitter had the Slumberjacks on sale, so we bought 2 of the -20* bags this evening. I'll get a couple dry bags to store them in for trips, and call it good.

    Double Sleeping Bags

I looked at the Slumberjacks at a local shop today and will be showing them to the wife later. I take it by your statement that they come in LH and RH zips? The shop only had RH zips. How would you rate their warth accuracy? They had 0*,-20* and -30* bags, but nothing in the 20-30* range.

    Double Sleeping Bags

We won't be sleeping in the FJ80, we'll be in our ground tent. The 80 isn't good for sleeping in unless it is just me, and even then, I prefer a groudn tent. In 5 years, we're likely to still have small ones in diapers that will be with us...our oldest can have her own bag. We camp all...

    Double Sleeping Bags

My wife and I are looking for a new sleeping set-up as our current one is not suiting us well. We'd like to find a double sleeping bag system that will fit me (6'0", 210#), her (5'10", 130#) and our 16 month old girl. I've looked at... Feather Friends Sandpiper w/groundsheet...

    Painting rims

Personally, I don't like aluminum colored wheels. That said, the ones in my previous post are steel wheels. CYi5's wheels did turn out nicely. Turns out too, that the spare wheel that came with my set is already black...less work for me. And Doc, when you buy the correct vehicle to start off...

    Southern Arizona border

Cool trip Tim. If you get down that way again, try heading a bit farther east, and go to the Texas John Slaughter site...pretty cool. EDIT: The "blimp" is affectionately called Snoopy and resides, for the most part, over Sierra Vista, AZ; I believe it is a listening station, but am not sure.

    Painting rims

I used "Airplane Stripper"(or something to that effect). Get the kind that comes in the rectangular can, and that you can apply with a paint brush. The spray stuff isnt as good. So, apply this snotty stuff everywhere you want the paint gone. I didmy entire wheels, front back, inside and out...

Would it be incorrect to assume that this G has no lift, and stock sized tires? It certainly is one beautifully Gilded Lily.
