I saw that and was surprised how soft the SuperBumps appeared to be. Of course there's a LOT of force being brought to bear on them.
I still think I'm going to try a pair and honestly, at that price, how could I afford to pass them up? :ylsmoke:

The closest direct comparison as I...
Copied my post from the other thread...
Is it just me or is there quite a bit of unused space under that deck? Even more than most drawer systems? Like most molded plastic/poly containers it looks like there's a significant amount of space lost in the name of shaping it for strength versus a...
Time for a different chapter...
Since Matt has settled in with LX now, and he's spending more quality time with his recently-purchased '78 FJ40, I figured I'd drag our other friend Jeff into this thread as well. In hindsight the thread title kind of lends itself to multiple vehicles, so lucky...
Very nice, and it's looks handy, but...

Re: Timbrens, Air Bags, & Wheeler's SuperBumps...
Why choose Timbren over some air bag helper springs from AirLift or Firestone? Sheer simplicity? Just curious. I would think the air bags would perform better over a wide range of loads (and over more uneven terrain) with their...
I would love to see/hear that! Got any pictures or video?
Just FYI, take note that Fiskars has what they call Chopping Axes and Splitting Axes - http://www2.fiskars.com/Gardening-and-Yard-Care/Products/Axes-and-Striking-Tools
The Choppers are more what we think of when we think 'axe'. The...
Damn that's funny. And it's also why I'd rather have it attached to a trailer. If I was running a solo vehicle on a long-term, cross-county trip this setup would be cool, but for my camping style or the hunting lease it would be a limitation.
I'd say you're on a smart track wanting a commonly available tire, but no less important is the availability of the size you choose. I am also a fan of the tall skinny tire, but there was only one commonly available tire in a 255 for my 17in wheels, the BFG KM2, which none of my local tire...
I still have a jones for the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Cot and matching Pad...
...but for the most part I just plug ye olde air mattress in at the back of the FJC and air it up. So convenient and I have the room for it.
Not sure what brand/model he's used but Bob Brown (http://aspenxtrails.com/) mounts exterior speakers and lights on his off road tear drop trailers just like you're thinking.
My only recommendation would be to mount them on the sides and at least halfway up. That way you're avoiding impact from...
No personal experience with the Cooper Discoverer ATPs but, since you've garnered over 120 views with no replies yet, I'll give it a shot...
:REOutCampFire03:
I've seen lots of half-ton pickups getting ATPs mounted/balanced at Discount Tire locations over time. Lots of people are running those...
Nicely done, written up, and photographed!
Got any pictures from the front of at night yet?
Can you show us what your beam pattern looks like with just headlights and then with these turned on as well?
I should have been as specific as other members and noted that I was refering to the STOCK suspension coils. They are soft, I dare say, sometimes even for the street. It almost goes without saying that a suspension lift will help counteract the extra weight from accessories and protection gear...
Just something to consider as far as getting hung up on obstacles... Putting the extra weight of skids and other protective weighty items on the FJC's relatively soft coils may actually cause you to lose a little clearance in the rough stuff.
:safari-rig:
Have fun figuring out what you need most.
:iagree:
Add another emphatic yes to what a few others said above about taking your time to decide.
Got my '08 FJC w/12k miles on it 3yrs ago and daily commuting + trips has recently pushed me past 90,000mi. The sum total of my modifications to date is new tires (about 5k miles ago) and a HAM...
