Pulled this truck out of the garage this weekend. Haven't driven it in over a year. Spent the past four days cleaning it up and going over it. Everything worked except the speedo and one parking light. Spend a few minutes on that stuff and the truck is 100%.
If anyone is interested shoot me...
Hmmm. An new old-stock "desert water bag" in really nice shape. An antique Orvis Arcticreel that was owned by Robert Montgomery. A huge old Veedol service sign that's surely too big to ship. I'll have to poke around.
I really admire your enthusiasm and can't wait to see this come together. Ya'll know I'm a fan of these engines.
Keep in mind the 123 and 126 body Benz transmissions weren't the most robust in the world. Go easy on the skinny pedal pushing all that weight.
Do yourself a favor and buy a roll of copper/nickle brake line and form and flair them yourself. Good stuff, easy to work with and it doesn't corrode like normal brake line.
Was killed in a car crash on Tuesday. A sad day for Land Rover owners and adventurers everywhere. He along with the others led the way for us all.
Rest in piece BB.
It's not the money. I don't need the money. I just hate to see it sit and not get used. You're in CT....Come take it for a ride. Give me $10k and a brand new Tacoma TRD Double-Cab with a cap and we'll have a deal!
There's a kid that works at the Lily Bay State Park on Moosehead Lake in Maine that has an Isuzu in his RRC. I'm not even sure which one. That's all I got.....
You'll get the same expansion differential with standard coolant. What this coolant does is keep small boiling points from occurring.
If there are areas inside your engine where boiling is occurring, (and there are) especially where a seal between steel and aluminum exists, this is where your...
Thanks, Keith.
I like the idea of this stuff.
The trouble with with conventional 50/50 mix coolant is that it boils. That is the reason systems run a pressure cap....to increase the boiling point. When it boils you get hot spots and that's when you have trouble. If you can maintain an equal...
I can't talk with any degree of certainty about running aluminum engines at those temperatures. Both my Rovers run iron Mercedes diesels. I do know the biggest problem with those kind of temperatures are the rates of expansion between different metals so perhaps having both an aluminum block...
I just switched to Evans coolant a couple of weeks ago in my Mercedes diesel 109. The research lab for Evans is in the town I work in and I know them very well. I talked to them at length before changing over.
Here is a bit of background and reasoning:
1) The truck is a '67 109 with an...
You can get a rear frame section but if the rear is that bad the rest of the frame isn't far behind. Figure on a frame.
The front door pillars are part of the bulkhead. Check out the footwells too. Parts are available for both the pillars and footwells.
Also check the center door pillars...
