somewhat van related, i took ownership of a roof top tent from the 60's today, needs a new top and foam, but shouldnt be too much to get it back into working order. the tent also has a kitchen attachment that removes and becomes a stand alone kitchen with 2 burner stove, shelf and such.
also got a portable toilet for inside the van, my friend was happy to get it all out of the garage and back shed.

Isn't the main issue the 3" to 3.5" down pipe getting to the cat? What are you after, improved sound or reduced EGTs? If you are after the latter, I would kill the kitty.
reduced EGT's mainly, i got the cat back installed yesterday, still waiting on the cat delete pipe, i had enough tubing in the kit to remove the cat but would have to cut the fitting on the downpipe and either weld a new flange or make a slip fitting, but if the need to ever put the cat back on arises, ill have that option by going with the test pipe with the stock fitting.
this was the second diesel exhaust ive ever installed, and being that it was for an F250, some of the brackets need to be adjusted as i cut the over the axle pipe a bit to raise the exhaust tubing as high as i could, the tail pipe is currently hanging about 4" too low, but should fix that this next week with a new hanger bracket.

Killing the kitty lowered my EGTs at least 200F on long grades. E350 van with 6.0PSD. 10,000 lb. But, with the loss of the restriction, I did lose some MPG. Also, running a 65rhp economy tune from Eric at Innovative Diesel and the Atlas40 FICM tune from PHP. I would never be running those mods in a van unless I had modified the exhaust.
I never heard of a diesel getting less MPG with less restriction...is that something to do with the 6.0?

I was surprised too. The cat is the primary restriction in the system. I also installed a high flow muffler and the much better flow = cooler exhaust temps. Maybe it has something to do with less backpressure but it could also be my imagination and/or driving habits with the extra HP. Maybe I need to try a different SCT tune. One that accounts from the increase in boost after removing the restriction caused by the cat. But I'm not sure if that would make much of a difference either since the stock turbo is the variable vein type. Either way, you can't beat the sound of the turbo and rumble of the 6.0. I'm averaging 12-14 mpg in the mountains and 15-17 mpg on the hwy which is pretty good for a 10,000 lb lifted 4WD van that is about as aerodynamic as a cinder block.
Sorry for the thread hijack. I'll have to go back and read about the OP's other mods but if you've got it torn down to do the oil cooler and what not then do the blue fuel pressure reg upgrade. The factory kit wears out over time leading to a decrease in fuel pressure. The injectors need at least 45psi.

so here's my report after 2 days of having the test pipe installed. while diamond eye says it works with a factory exhaust, it might on an F series, but the test pipe was about 6" to short for the E350, easy fix as i had some 3.5" left over and just welded on an extension.
Sound: there is the slight whistle at the tail pipe, and a little throatier at idle. not much louder inside the van so thats good. under heavy throttle it sounds fairly good, no drone at any RPM, sounds pretty "tough"
Seat of pants: nothing extreme, could be a placebo effect, but i feel that it gets into boost quicker now
overall thoughts, i might just say cut out the factory muffler and add a straight through 3.5" muffler of some sort and call it a day. but that is my opinion without any readings from gauges to see if there was any gains or losses.
will get a baseline MPG report in a few weeks.

well i have reached the limits of the current stereo setup and the 5x7 JL speakers have had enough, luckily i have a very nice set of infinity Kappa components laying around which i am installing now. i also built an amp rack mounted to the side of the van right behind the drivers seat and built and installed an 8" polk audio subwoofer which will later be installed in the frame of the couch/bed when i build that.
amp is a kenwood 4ch which will be ran in a 3 channel mode, 100w x2 @2ohm to the component speakers and 200w @4ohm to the subwoofer, should work out nicely.
for the time being i will have the amp hooked up to the starting batteries as i do not have a house battery setup yet, does it matter which battery i use to connect the positive cable to? probably a dumb question, but ya never know.
6.0 "bulletproofing" mods should be scheduled to be done 1st week of october and will hopefully have 2 windows installed by the end of the year, at which time i will need to pay off any debts and put away some money for the interior build out and add to the travel funds
