100W Portable kit on ebay

I got an email from Solar BLVD, and prices are going to be going up soon on imported panels.
Dear Friends,

On Tuesday, June 3rd 2014, The United States Department of Commerce successfully imposed increased duties of approximately 21.89 percent to importers of solar panels, asserting that foreign manufacturers had benefited from unfair subsidies.

The decision, in a long-simmering trade dispute, addresses one of the main charges in a petition brought by the manufacturer SolarWorld Industries America. While it is preliminary, the ruling means that the United States will begin collecting the tariffs in advance of the final decision, expected later this year.

What does this mean to you as a customer? Since you are not the importer on file, you will not be directly taxed for your solar panels. There will, however, be an increase of about 15 percent across the board on all solar modules in the next coming months.

Our goal at Solarblvd is to remain competitive. So, we will continue to offer you great pricing and unprecedented service in the coming years!

Thank you for your continued support.

Yo Jenn or anyone else with experience with a JK and these panels,
Have you tried to fit the 100w panel in a JK? I measured mine and it looks like one might fit behind the rear seats and stow well snuggled up against them and the headrest. The non folding version is about $100 cheaper which is almost enough for an extra panel sooo....

Thanks

Plenty of room for 2 panels in the back seat area. (forgive the messy back seat - getting cleaned over the next 2 days.)

Thank you very much for the pic!

Having little ones I'm probably going to have to put them in "back of the back seats". I suspect there is room there to for at least one panel.

We have the company Overland Solar (overlandsolar.com) coming out the NW Overland Rally this month. I am looking forward to seeing their setups since I missed them at Overland Expo. I used Goal Zero stuff when we did our last family Baja trip but I find the Goal Zero stuff a little finicky sometimes...

I am looking forward to looking at the Overland Solar gear, it looks simple and rugged.

I'm so glad I got mine when I did. I see a lot of options, but for the price I can't complain. There is and always will be something more expensive and better quality. Most panels will be old technology in 3-4 years.

I replaced my original 100W ebay kit with a Renogy 100W folding kit. It has a better controller, wires, build and a semi-rigid case. I'll be testing it out this weekend on a trip to Monache Meadows and will report back.

That looks pretty nice! Just re-wired my Ebay one, but will be interested in hearing how the Renogy works out for you.

That looks much nicer than the 100 watt one I got from Solar BLVD.
I may have to get another one :D

Exactly! Sometimes it is nice to take a breather from all the upgrades...

I used the Renogy portable panel this past weekend in Monache Meadows without any issues. I fired it up and it read 5.6amps was being fed to my battery. The controller is nice with a LCD readout and various settings including type of battery and a timer for the accessory load (i.e. lights). Here's a link to more info on the controller's features and the manual: http://www.epsolarpv.com/en/index.php/Product/index/id/149/am_id/134
The overall build quality is much nicer than the typical ebay versions, the wiring has a protective jacket, the battery clips are better and connect via Anderson style plugs, the legs don't feel flimsy and the bag is semi rigid and provides more protection. It costs more but I think you get what you pay for in this case.
