Immaculate 1981 300D Diesel Mercedes Benz

  • Originally a Portland Oregon Vehicle - No Rust, Not even a peep.
  • Original Paint, Immaculate.
  • Black Interior, Immaculate.
  • OEM Mercedes Floor Mats, Brand New.
  • Lovecraft Single Tank Vegetable Oil Conversion.
  • Brand New Transmission (less than 1000 miles).
  • Perfect Mechanical Shape, needs nothing, nearly brand new tires.
  • Ice Cold AC.
  • Excellent stereo system with small subwoofer in the trunk.
  • Automatic Transmission.
  • Easily valued at $10-$12,000 in relationship to its condition before economy collapsed.
  • Completely usable as a daily driver or a special occasions vehicle.
  • Fairly zippy for old diesel, easily holds highway speeds at 75 mph or faster and never slows below 55-60 even on big mountain passes even here at 6,000 - 8,000 feet. It will also gain approx 3% more power for each 1000 feet so at sea level it will have 25% more power and probably slightly better efficiency.
  • Gets 25-30 mpg fuel mileage on average.
  • 146K Miles - Just Broken In.

Asking $6800 OBO. Near Salt Lake City Utah. I would feel perfectly comfortable with someone flying in and driving it home.

EDIT: Here are some updated pictures...

I should have vacuumed the floor before I took the pics but didn't. The interior is immaculate as well with OEM floor mats.

Lovecraft vegetable oil system. I have a video I can email or put online somewhere with the vehicle running and a tour of the inside and out of the car.

Best,
Andre

I have owned quite a few of these (and currently have two). It by far not only the nicest one I've seen or been in, hence the price which isn't out of line at all. In fact I was considering it a hell of a deal... I think the only reason I'm not asking $10 or more is because its not a turbo model but anyone who's driven the 300Ds know how peppy they are even without the turbo... I recall a famous author (Russel Banks) who lives down the road from me who has a similar one paid $14G for his just a year or two ago and this one is just as nice if not nicer.

I hope it helps...

Scott,

It looks similar to my first one that was a '83 300D turbo. It had about 330K miles when I sold it maybe three years ago and is still living a great life in California... :)

Beautiful car. I bought one for my wife, an 84 with 128K miles, a few years ago but she said that it felt like driving a bus :Wow1:

$6,800 is not out of line, at all. I sold mine back in 07 for $3,800, but it had some imperfections (and it was Texas, not California). The 300TDT turbo touring wagons go for $6,000-$8,000 in Houston all the time. If I could find a nice wagon, I would be all over it.

Good luck with the sale.

Off.Track, maybe I'm taking this the wrong way but I can't believe you found it appropriate to post a link to craigslist listings of similar vehicles on craigslist in an ad I have for my car...

Andre

It's all very strange and inappropriate. I've taken to PM'ing people who have done similar things on threads I have started, but I'm glad you have called this one out in public.

Good luck. I had a 1985 300TDT (wagon version) and it was a great car. I'm near Seattle and our area is one of the best in terms of quality cars with no rust and/or extreme heat. Best to you.

Yes, somehow behaving with "class" has been lost in cyberspace.

I think we should bring back dueling. . . There used to be a consequence for behaving poorly as a gentleman.

Swords right? Nothing like a pommel bash to the face to teach someone a lesson.

Bump for a great vehicle, and I hope the sale goes well.

Beautiful. those things have some of the most comfortable seats I have ever encountered. My dad drove his mid 80's one well into the 300k range before it rusted out on him.
