IMO your truck had plenty pf attention given to it recently... very clean underhood with lots of new parts showing... good score. Pop the top and enjoy your classic.

You did awesome! :jumping:

Great condition and great PO history. Get familiar with the 22RTE here.

The digital dash is a classic, almost makes you feel like Michael Knight driving, doesn't it? And those bucket seats I really, really liked. I think you got a winner, especially for the price.

Hope you enjoy it!:smiley_drive:

Thanks. Yeah I can't believe how comfortable the front seats are. Especially the drivers seat. It's way more comfortable than my 03 Tacoma seat. The one thing I did find that does not seem to work is using the key to raise the rear window. It goes up and down with the front switch and goes down with the key but it won't go up with the key. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or there is a specific switch for the up part that has gone bad?

Nice find and very clean . . . one of the good looking factory graphics too (some of them were just bad)

sounds like it's just the rear switch itself . . . though I would recommend a quick read here for anything you need to know about the rear window -> 4crawler rear window link

actually, most anything 1st gen related can be found on 4crawler's site, here's my favorite link -> 4crawler cheap tricks

pull the Tailgate apart and remove the mechanism. Clean the whole thing with a paper towel and spray lithium grease on all of the moving parts. Then clean out the wire contacts on everything inside the gate. Pull the lock switch and clean it too. Chances are that there are 20+ years of dirt in there and it's never been cleaned. I had this problem with mine. It worked great afterwords. Beware the bolt switch! it's behind the panel on the drivers side. You have to have a bolt in the top (second or third from the rear) in order for the window to go up. It's a safety thing, to make sure you can't roll the window up while the top is off.

To prevent further rust, pull those chrome strips on the wheel wells. Those things should be illegal.

You will also want to let the engine warm up before driving it, to let the turbo warm up. Also, before you shut it off let it idle for 1 or 2 minutes to let the turbo cool down. The oil will crystallize in the turbo and you will be buying a new one soon, otherwise.

Nice runner.

Thanks guys. Does anyone in the Denver area know a good shop that has experience working on this motor and truck? I'd like to take it in some where and have it gone through end to end so I know where to start on bring it back to its complete former glory! It runs well but I'd like to have it tip top mechanically then I'll do some body work and a new retro paint job. I called the place I take my 03 Tacoma, Toy Car Care, but the guy said he does not remember ever working on a truck like mine. I think I'll pass on them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Irbis Off-Road in Aurora - I've never heard anything but positive experiences from their customers.

I recall getting an additional turbo unit with my 4Runner, to rebuild for a spare if necessary. I don't think I passed it along to it's new owner. I'll have to check...

Thanks. Irbis is actually about 10 minutes from my house! I'll check them out. Let me know about the spare turbo. I may be interested in it if you don't want it any more.

CONGRATS BERGER!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the 1st Gen 4runner gang, they really are such neat trucks. I think in the long run you'll be happy with the 22RET, you certainly do have a very unique Toyota, Inclinometer, SR5Seats (I'm jealous) Digi-Dash... ANd it's EXPO White, NICE!!!! Can't wait to see what you do with her mate, you've got a neat truck there.

Those guy's do some neat work... Personal Fav is the 1st gen body on the 3rd Gen Chasis. Although in reality they took away alot of the 1st Gen's strength by doing it (3rd gen has a weaker frame, weaker IFS system...), but still it's a neat project that looks to have been done very well. I gotta say though, their stuff is quite dear eh... yikes, I liked the look of the front bumper but I don't know how to justify spending that kind of money considering the com petetion and significant price differences. For that money you're nearly into ARB Bull Bar Territory and I KNOW their stuff is worth it. Still they look to be a good group of folks who really love Toyotas so that tends to lead to good products IME...

Cheers

Dave
