Got the first side access door fabbed up. I bought the T handles but made my own add on to make them 3 point latches. Stainless rods and delrin receiver blocks make for smooth operation and a tight seal all the way around. I bought tamper proof torx screws to attach the T handle latch with as well. I will cover the inside of the door after insulating and skinning the outside so that I have a smooth table surface when it is open. I will use cable stays with quick release pins so I can prop the door at 90* as a table or let it hinge down and rest alongside the camper.

Also I ordered a queen sized paco pad for my mattress, should have it any day now. For anyone unfamiliar with Paco pads they are pretty much indestructible. They are made from white water raft material, they float and are easily patched just like a raft. So if I ever want to float around while I am out somewhere in the camper, I can pull it out and have a nice big floating mattress. Also great for car camping as I can just set the tent up on top of the mattress.

Here are the counter top blanks. I acquired some live edge hardwoods from a friend for free. Just had to haul it out of his property before it was sold. Anyway I dropped it all off at a friends shop. He turned out these two pieces for me. They are beautiful IMO. Pics don't do them justice

Nice looking table top Java. :Wow1:The only thing you might be worried about is that the outer edge or say 2 inches of the wood is actually waste and is usually removed. Probably not a problem as the wood will be used indoors for a table top but we always remove it when building boats. Nice work:drool: and please keep posting as you inspaire all of us at Expo with your cool design. Cheers, Chilli..:)

I got my matress last week. Queen size, 4" thick Paco Pad form Jack's plastic welding in New Mexico. It's basically a huge thermarest built from white water raft material. It's about 35lbs to not terribly heavy. It can serve double duty as a floating platform and or car camping mattress. It's pretty darn comfortable too. Long term plans are to use it with a 2" memory foam topper in the camper.

Nice build!!!!!

Btw, if you do decide to repower, you can't go wrong with the 4bt! As long as you use the dodge diesel NV4500, everything is a direct bolt up from the adapter, fly wheel, starter to the clutch! Rebuilding the engine if necessary is a cinch! The biggest mistake people make is with gearing, the turbo and engine mounts! Use liquid mounts and the best turbo is the HX30W w/ 6cm housing (this came stock on the P-Pumped 4bts). It doesn't matter if you go with the VE injection pump or the P7100 as both are good! Also, the weight is NOT an issue. People make a big deal out of this, but it really isn't even noticed! As far as gearing, my buddy has one in a bronco ii with an M2R5 tranny and NP205 xfer. He has 33s on it with 3.27 gears. It's much quicker than the stock 2.8l v-6 with stock tires and gearing! It really is surprising! He hits around 1900 rpm @70 and averages around 23 mpg on the highway. Insulate and soundproof the cab, and the noise becomes a non-issue. I think you'd really enjoy it if you go this route!

Good luck with your build! It looks cool!!!

Good info. Thanks. Was thinking about gearing and tires the other day. Seems like 4.10 gears and 35s should get me around 70 mph at 2000 rpm. Not sure if 3.73 gears would be too tall
