Stronger? No, I run them behind the axle so I can run a longer shock. Most people mount them to the top of the axle but you can gain roughly 3-4" of shock length by mounting them on centerline behind the axle.
tight, yes. all clears though. Been on the trails since i finished the front, now its in the garage getting a motor swap (5vz :wings: )
as they say- measure many times, burn it in once.
I have tons of faith in you, based on the work you've posted up on the forums. but a wider axle is going to make your life much easier. Maybe a fj80 front fits the bill?
That's a nice looking 4Runner. Are you going to start a thread for the motor swap? I hope so.
The axle issue is not a cost concern, I just kind of like the skinny look of the stock axle right now. I figure I can build a Diamond axle for about $2500 including the ARB and gears for the HP FJ80 diff.
I had a couple days to kill so I decided it was time to use up the exhaust parts sitting on the shelf. The front half of the exhaust was built when I did the motor swap, but the tailpipe/muffler had to be fabbed.
