Oh so that must be why they used C/O's on the UZJ-100's IFS sus. Oh...Wait... They used T-bars ;) THe OLD T-Bar sus may not be as plush, but it's considerably more robust then the current IFS system in toyotas P/U's and SUV's.

Cheers

If you look at the frame, it's a 3rd gen frame (with coil-over suspension) and a 1st gen body.

I am a closet 1st gen lover.
Here is my ultimate 1st gen because it's the looks of the original with the drive train I know and love of a 3rd gen. Check it out at: http://irbisoffroad.com/Skyrunner_pics.asp

If someone doesn't buy this thing I'm liable to start trying to trade my runner for it. Question: Is the interior room of a 1st gen noticeably smaller than a 3rd gen?

Oh I'm very familliar with the truck in question... I'm just echoing Grim reapers sentiment when I say that's alot of work to put that body on a weaker chasis... Swaping a 3.4 into a first gen is far easier IMO and net's you an all-together stronger vehicle.

Still, it is neat and quite an engineering feat. Lovely work those guys at Irbis do eh...

Weaker chassis? Its not like they built the truck to do full blow rock crawling with 40" tires and 15" of lift..... but, I do agree... a lot of seemingly unnecessary work...

Although I'd like to put a LR Discovery body on a 4runner chassis.:Wow1:

I've heard people mention the 1 gen's tougher frame, but since I've never broken anything on my 4runner and I wheel it hard I'll take the nicer interior, quieter interior, better riding on and offroad coilover suspension, factory rear locker option, and motor that can get the truck up hills of the 3rd gen.
The looks however, the 1st gen has the 3rd beat by miles. (And I like how 3rd gens look even, it's just something about a 1st gen is SOOO sweet looking)

hey everyone, I am fairly new here, signed up months ago but never got a chance to really dig into the sight. started out basic TG armor, smitty winch, lockrite rear. I am a landscape photographer so I needed a rig that i could load up for a week or so and just go, no worries, no hassle.

I am a Camo fanatic and came up with this, If only I could do it just like this and have it be cost effective and practical. As the runner sits, minus the camo.

hahaha yeah thats my toy aussie. all the character traits of a aussie but in 1/3 the size. He loves to go with me, great trail dog, until he sees a cow, deer, or squirrel lol

Oh I LOVE the 3rd gen's looks too mate, I think they're great looking trucks. And I sure could do with the power and quite interior along with teh E-locker, and rear doors... But I still think the older Frames and suspension are tougher then the new C/O set-up; though DEFINATLY not as plush (hell my fist gen has rear leafs so...) Anyway, like I said, the end result really is quite a truck and Irbis does amazing work for sure. I was sad to see him dicontinue that camper build.

NOW, I'm trying to figure out how I could graft a pop-up onto the top of my 1st Gen. Maybe a westfallia or maybe just buy an extra top and find someone who knows how to work fiberglass and make a fully custom swapable top for my truck  At least I got her running right again after some shody repair work was uncovered and after I replace a few dash bulbs and fuses she'll be good as new...with near 250K on the clock... Oh how I love my Toyota!!!!!!!

Cheers

This is my 88 4runner, just asking for any suggestions on fixing the sag in the back and putting a 3-4'' lift on it, right now it is sitting on 33's and i want to do it the right way without any shortcuts or quick fixes, so anything would help.

ocvhrana, I have a set of lift blocks fo rthe rear for that year in my garage... where are you located? I know that is not the best idea, but I ran blocks in mine fine. If you want them, PM me and we can work something out.
