Yeah they where! It wasn't so much the sidehill that bothered me, it was the exposure in some areas. Sliding down into a tree is no big deal. Sliding down into the tree 600 feet away was. The Willys REALLY feels nice on sidehills for the most part. It is VERY low and stable overall. With better tires it could be a great little machine in the snow I think.

That sounds like a fun trip. Reminds me of our Geology Camp during college where we travelled around some of those places like Rangely Colorado and Dinosaur National Park. Although we were headed from Colorado Springs up to Yellowstone so we skipped Vernal, Utah.

Still haven't finished reading your build page, but working on it slowly.

Here is a short video of my little fun fender working a technical section on one of the mountain passes...



Please excuse the power steering belt working overtime. I ran out of room for adjustment before the pump pulley hits the inner fender. I will have to swap to a shorter belt to help the issue. The tires where at 2psi and the front end is locked......

Awesome trip!

We went down the same route from Kemerer to Telluride last year. The Flaming Gorge area is beautiful, and I agree 100% about the hwy south of Rangely. It's not exactly "pretty" country either. At least it's not a very long section.
