i am not sure why but all these pics that are working are from my iphone. the ones i have taken with my camera wont seem to upload even though they are below the size limit, anyone have any ideas or sugestions?
ok ok i did the photobucket thing lets see how it works. first off let me say it sucks. i hate all the ads and pop ups. and most of the background and pics are blocked from my work so hopefully i will be able to even see my own posts from there.
here is a pic of the rear airsprings, you can see how it was folded in half and dry rotted.
here is the front, you can see how it was completely detached from the upper piece
TLC shock on top, RR shock on bottom. note the RR shock comes all assembled and you have to press in the bushing on the TLC shock. also note the bronze bushings i sourced to make up the difference in the shock bushing id.
another view of the bushings
and installed. note the dust shield is upside down, i drilled a drain hole in it. the red arrow points to the drain hole, you can just make it out. this is sub-optimal. i may change them out to RR shocks and make extension blocks for the lower end. the yellow arrow shows where i used a spacer to gain brake line/abs clearance due to the added travel. the green arrow shows the extended sway bar end links from the rear of a heep TJ. i decided not to use disconnects as the sway bar limits articulation and prevents damage. the links are the proper length to achive added articulation without damage.
one interesting thing is that there is no mention of this TLC shock option on alan bate's website anymore. perhaps some one else ran into some of these same problems and he decided to remove it. i think in hindsight it was a mistake, but there was only one way to find out.

sway bar end links: the stock ones limit sway bar movement and hinder articulation. so after some time with a tape measure I came up the length i wanted. and lo and behold JKS has some for the heep TJ that are the size i need. they come as a "trim to fit" kit and this was as short as I could get them. the holes in the frame and sway bar needed to be hogged out to half inch but that was no big deal as they are 12mm to start with, just a tad to small for 1/2 bolts but big enough I didn't need to start with a smaller drill.
sorry. i installed a new window regulator last weekend. and i got 16" rims a couple weeks ago, now to get some rubber to go around them. i am thinking 265/75-16 treadwrights perhaps
I like this a lot. I'd love to find one and do the same.
Any chance you can provide some more info on what the updates cost? So I could estimate what I'd have to add to the original purchase?
