These bumpers are looking great. My '02 was totaled and I just picked up an '06. I'm waiting on a timing belt/water pump and then a good test run. If there are sufficient funds left I'll be wanting one of these. :)

Sorry to hear about the 02. Glad your back in a newer 1st gen. I kinda wish I held out for an 05-06. I just want the 5 speed auto. I have a hard time getting over 13 mpg.
Anyways. Love to get a bumper built for your 06.

Only 13?!?! I know these things are bad but I still get over 15 on the highway with my 35's. Done your 02 sensors? Cleaned your MAF? Plugs?

I dont do much highway driving. when i got the truck, i cleaned MAF, throttle body, timing belt, water pump, spark plugs. all fluid change. I havent changed the o2 sensor, didnt see the need to without a CEL. have there been reports of replacing o2 sensor without CEL help increase/restore MPG?

Try cleaning the o2 sensor as well before changing it. If it's dirty or bad the computer will mess with the air fuel mixture making for poor mpgs. I remember consistently getting 18-20mpgs in my tundra when I checked. Most of the time I would not worry because I knew i was not driving a Prius, and happy about that!

I would love to get 18-20. Heck if I can get 16-17 I would be very happy.

Ok never heard of cleaning o2 sensor. How do I go about this??

^ It's an antequated mindset. You can't actually clean them properly, and they're under $80/each, so it's a fools errand to bother trying. Guys talk about "cleaning" them by heating the sensor end with a torch, or any other number of silly ideas. Knowing the way they operate/read oxygen content in your exhaust stream you could undersand why these ideas don't work, but suffice to say, just change them. If you're over 80,000mi and they're original, you may as well. The 2 of concern are the 2 "upstream" ones. They are the ones that control how your engine operates and fuels. The ones post-cat (downstream) are simply there to ensure your emissions equipment is functioning properly. If you don't have a CEL, just change the 2 upstream ones and call it good. Also, a fresh set of plugs will do more than fresh o2 sensors, start there. Source: I'm an experienced and licensed career mechanic.

Man that truck has come a long way, it's pretty slick! Always liked the V8 Tundras! Good looking build man!

Plugs are pretty new. Less than 10k on them if that. OEM plugs. I was a Toyota tech when I got the truck so I did everything minus o2 sensor. In the 9 years as a tech we never replaced o2 sensors just because. I hear this all the time with domestic vehicles. Not so much on imports. Truck has a little over 100k and since I can still get dealer prices on parts. I'll go try a set of a/f sensors since the o2 are the rear most ones.

now that the armor is pretty much done, still got skid plates otw. till than I have spend a few days with wiring. Got all those lights in the bumper to power up!!
I wired all my relays to be ground control, so the wires from the relays to overhead switches are all ground. similar to how toyota does it. I was gonna order the fancy contra switches at $15 a piece but i wasnt gonna get them all to fit where i want them. plus i have a set in my 1st gen and the covers just dont last, mine keeps breaking. so i went with simple round lighted switches. since all my relays are ground control and the switch when turned on just provides a ground. i had to wire the switch a little differently so it would light up. it wasn't hard but i did have to install a set of diodes.
With the topper and rear swing outs, i couldnt see much out the rear. I been meaning to do a rear camera system and I figure I'm doing the wiring that I should order up a system. I basically piece one together via amazon for $50 (monitor and camera)

here are the pictures. need to get some pictures of the lighting. still need to install and wire up some rock lights and OBA (PUMA)

For most wiring is a nightmare. I love doing wiring just time consuming running all the wires. I ran extra wires and relays so anything else I want to add, i just need to tap into an open relay under the hood. LOVE IT

7 inch monitor mounted right to the rearview mirror so its adjustable. I also mounted a little offset so i can still see the outside temp (during my wiring it looks like the previous owner wired in a factory mirror with compass/temp)

LED reverse lights on a switch and not when in reverse (wanted manual control)

Looks good! I too love wiring, after all that work it's nice to see a light actually come on.

Thank you. It was nice to finally have working switches lol
