AWESOME! Now I can watch the pros and then mimic their ideas since I have no original ones of my own...

How cool would it be to have some Expedition West classification for various stages of expedition worthiness? Meaning: if your rig met with the august leaders approval for Expeditionary overland travel, we could get a cool EW badge to put our cars - expanding awareness of this community and undoubtedly adding huge value to our resale values.

Aside from the cool factor, EW could offer suggested STAGES of vehicle prep. Stage One being a Toyota, then on from there. Just kidding. But it would be great to have the experts make some suggestions that are proven and can be built upon as time and $ allows.

just my unsolicited .02 worth.

Looks a lot like my truck!

I was thinking the same thing.

I look forward to Scott and Chris's review seen as they have a lot more experience then I in evaluating the merits of an expedition rig.

Ask him for the receipts? Maybe he always drove under 60MPH? My V6 auto 5-speed got maybe 21 MPG on long steady drives at 65 MPH

Jim,

read the posting. The guy says that he does have all the fuel receipts.

He lives in Dublin/Pleasanton area though. It's very flat and hot, kind of like Texas. Ideal condition.

I still think 25mpg is a little stretch at real freeway speed (65+). If he drives 55mph-45mph on freeway then it possible but that's dangerous......

You guys are funny :)

I promise I am not avoiding your questions Wil....

The fridge is sitting on the back seat and bungied to the seat mounts... Mainly, we needed the fridge for our fridge test in issue two of the Overland Journal, so it is a temp. fitment.

Chris is currently testing it for an article in expeditionswest.com and I don't think he is too keen on handing over the keys.

You mean I have to give it back?? :peepwall:

Awesome truck. We have already taken it on a little camping excursion with the Chaser trailer and Eezi-Awn tent. Next will be some 4wd evaluation :smiley_drive:

The old Bajataco machine is sitting in the driveway with a dead alternator... jealous as can be :smilies27

Hey Chris....

Sounds like no fun!!!

Here's your fix for that alternator of yours!!!

Boyle Future Tech
530 888 6290
just east of Sacramento, CA
$100-150 + freight

The boys from TTORA love these guys!

I have called down their...nice guys....I was talking to them about rebuilding mine.....My 01' DC tacoma has a 80 amp alternator i was told...The guy told me with the rewound with all new brushs, bearings and the complete works around $ 150 plus shipping there and back...Hes in Cal.....Shipping can't be to bad....Come with an 1 year warranty.

With the rewound...between 140 - 150 amps is the range with a 80 amp idle ....Not to bad for $150!!! I'm going to do alittle more research on this...but i think i'm sold on the Boyle Tech deal!
