I have to agree. We are at the +/- 4000 mile mark on our Alaska trip, and our Tundra has been great. I built a sleeping platform for it and will share pics when we get home.

Awesome. The tundra's getting out and doing what they do best! Such comfortable and reliable long distance vehicles.

Great thread. Just started a search for an 06 Tundra up here in Canada, and very glad I came across this, thanks for sharing.

Thanks to all for the nice comments!

It sure has proven to be a worthwhile endeavor. In fact, I wouldn't mind finding another 1st Gen Tundy in great shape and making another build. Maybe an access cab next time???

But this week I am heading to the San Juan mtns to do all the great trails in the Ouray/Telluride area. As much as I love the Tundra, this area is much better-suited for the FJ Cruiser. I'll post some pics soon.

I took the Tundra out for some mellow wheeling in the Pike NF today.

4-wheeling with a double cab is a bit like driving an off-road stretch limo :)

Sometimes the long wheelbase makes for a nice mellow ride. It's definitely different.

Klondike enjoyed it...

Great build thread! Really nice Tundra! Thanks for sharing so much of the build and experiences with the rest of us! I look forward to seeing more of how this vehicle progresses, and the future adventures you have with it!

Very nice build.

Been driving a 1 Gen AC for 14 years, now with 211K on it and it still does weekly 500 mile trips to our cabin and sees plenty of beat up logging roads during hunting season October -January.

It is a great platform with enough supporting mods to make it a very viable vehicle for what you are doing with it. IT can handle 90% of everything I would ever want to do with an off road rig.

I like your self sustaining ARB/Solar setup. I have thought about this as well, I have been scared away from tapping into my main system. mostly because I don't want to come back to the truck one day 30 miles into the north woods and turn the key and find out a bad ground etc. rendered me stranded. I like the simple solar setup. Any links to that amazon package or similar? I have looked but haven't really found what I'm looking for.

Good work.....keep it up !!!!!
