Pictures!

what came out of the truck. 3 year old Icons! Looks like they could use some freshening up!

Pulled out both sides. Easy with no sway bar to pull out.

the usual Icon rebuild, which has been shown a few times on this forum. One from Mountain pete too!

On the newly built Icons surrounded by the new springs

Installed!

More pictures to come when I get home and the weather is nice!

the ride home kicks MMM! you can certainly feel the new spring rate and the nose of the truck doesn't dive that much when I brake and the body roll in the corners is now a lot less! It handles the bumper and winch like its not even there.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!:wings::wings::wings::wings::wings:

Sorry I don't know much about the motor as Kevin got it from a builder in California, I know its has all the goodies for the internals, and makes about 400hp on a dyno. I will be finding out more as we start to build the new truck for the 2010 Baja 1000. we will not be attending the 2009 as no sponsorship and lack of money has the truck as a stand still.

Sorry I couldn't get more information for you but I will try to get more.

Your truck is coming alone nicely!

How's you gas tank project? I've talked to a local fab shop and I'm going to bring my truck in and see if they can replace the stock tank with a bigger tank. If I can get a bigger tank in the stock location then I don't have to get a tire carrying bumper. I'm hoping to get 40gal. :ylsmoke:

Well it's certainly on the list of things to do. I know where its going to go and I know what I'm going to do, its just a matter of sitting down with Kevin and Ian ( Fabricators ) and getting it done, but a rear bumper/tire carrier and exo cage and RTT are first before that. Then I will start work on the tank.

Good luck with yours 40 Gal would be very nice!

So they're 700 lb springs, and provide 2-2.5" of lift over stock (when cranked "normally")? And were the Icons you replaced 650lb coils? I personally didn't prefer the ride of my 660lb OME's over the previous 590 lb ones I had, but they hold the weight better so I'm willing to accept it. I'm curious to hear a report after a few weeks/months of on and off-road driving what your impressions are.

I'd be interested in seeing a level shot of the truck, and one close up of the CV angles.

Thanks for the detailed report to date. Looks like another great option for our trucks.

So how bout those pics :wings: :coffee:

I'll snaps some pictures tonight when I get home from work for you guys. I also have the new OME extra leaf in the back now too.

Yes they are a 700lbs x 14" spring. The crappy 650lbs Icons came out.

I did a rebuild on the coil-overs at the same time and made them extended coil-overs too.

The ride is firmer don't get me wrong, but they handle the bumper and winch so much better! :victory:

I'll get those tonight for you when I get home from work and post them up. CV are really not that much different than they were before though. there's just a lot less pre-load now on the spring. I measured 3" from the underside of the top of the coil-over to the top of the collar, now its 1"1/2.
