New hypertech speedo calibrator

I got the new Hypertech Speedo calibrator, If set it up and it was super easy with my computer and USB port. Punch in the numbers you have and that's it. I will get to install it this week as the weather is supposed to be nice.

I'll let you guys know how it works out with my GPS.

Cool, I look forward to knowing if it works. I definitely need this.

Well I got the new Hypertech speedo calibrator installed in the truck. Install was super easy, but I left the USB cable that comes with the kit plugged in the unit. I just taped in place and just ran it under the dash. I thought if I ever do a change its really easy to change the calibrator without taking the whole dash apart!

Fist impression was pretty good, once you get everything setup and installed on your laptop (which I use for the truck and tuning) you just punch in your numbers and away you go.

I had one issue, when I punch in going from 3.73 gears to 4.56 it really went out on the speedo according to the GPS. Not sure whats going on? So I just entered the tire size change, from 265-65-17 to 285-70-17 without adding in the gear change and voila, the speedo is very accurate with the GPS. This unit allows you to do gear and tire changes together, and I have both. but only the tire change worked out well.

I've contacted Hypertech, tech support and I'll see what I get out of them, other than that small issue the unit was easy to install and program.

Just leave the USB cable plugged into the unit so you don't have to take you dash apart to adjust if you do any more changes to your truck.

well after talking with tech support, I have a defective unit and I have to send it back to them.

I was hoping I was not going to have to take the dash apart again!

Oh well, hopfully the new one will work better.

I've contact them on the bumper, $1895 for the rear $1495 for the front. They are running a promotion if order both you get a $400 discount. The one on the black Tacoma weights about 105lbs. They sure look very nice!

Interesting - that was a back bumper IIRC? 105 lbs is pretty heavy in my estimation for aluminum. I'd guess my steel rear bumper weighs less than that.

It would be nice to save a bit of weight, but I kinda like the idea of going to Armorology for a couple weeks to have the wrap around bumper made. It's a bit more money with travel, but kinda worth the trip to see Colorado. :smiley_drive:

Yes, it's the one on the black Tacoma. Don't know how much a steel one weights in that configuration. 105lbs is for dual swing arm, standard box and a galley box. I have the break down somewhere, IIRC the bumper with swing out and no box is about 68lbs.

That still seems like alot. I know my bumper can't weight more than 20lbs more than the factory bumper and reciever combo. If any at all. The factory stuff actually feels heavier, but I am sure the tube is heavier just feels lighter cause it is so easy to grab onto and move around.
