I'm trying Amsoil in my truck for the first time. Anybody have any thoughts on this oil?

I've been a regular user of Mobil 1 synthetic oil 5w30, but have found that Mobile 1 other products are getting hard to find in Alberta. My truck was becoming a mixture of fluids and figured if I could get everything from one place, it might be a little better and easier.

I've just finished doing the whole truck, other than the Transmission (Toyota WS).

Hopefully everything works out good. :smiley_drive:

I've been using Amsoil for awhile, I sent my oil to Blackstone lab for analysis last oil change. I changed the oil at 8000 miles. There report indicated the metal content is a little high in the oil but Blackstone explains this is normal for a new engine like mine, 15000 miles. The number should come down later. The TBN is 2.6. The oil properties reading are all well with in spec.

Hey everybody, I'm pretty bummed, that Baja has been canceled for this year.

I was really looking forward to hanging out and meeting a bunch of you, but this will have to wait for next year.

Money and a lack of good sponsorship to help build the new truck has grinded us to a halt.

Here's a new picture of the new truck she's a beauty, but will have to wait till next year to hit the sand.

Is this something you are building on the side? Because it looks bad ***.
One of the things i plan on before i die, is to race the baja in something i build. Dead last and a week later, i don't care, just as long as i'm there.

yup,

this is the new race truck for next years Baja 1000. I beleave we (Kevin - HRT Off-road and I) are going to run in Class 8 which I think is like a little trophy truck.

Its whats left of a Jeep Comanche and will be power by a 400hp inline 6. Lots of work to be done still on the truck, but about 80% of the fabrication is already done. Can hardly wait to try it out!!

PS - I haven't done any fab work on the new truck yet. Kevin is doing most of it in his shop, but I'm there when I can be to help out on anything! I'm down this weekend to help wrench!! can hardly wait!!

Does anybody know why a lot of my pictures are gone from this forum? I've check my option and photos are turned on, but about 90% of my pictures at the start of this forum are gone?

A few more pictures, since the other have disappeared somewhere in cyberspace space. Some of these pictures are of the truck ready for this year winter. I run a Toyo G0-2 Plus 285 70-17 winter tire so I can use my RUD chains with them. Killer tire!

Looking better after each mod!

I've been following the progress, but since there are so many projects to follow I dont remember what components you are using, such as suspension. Could you make up a list on your first post like tacodoc did?

Keep up the great work! I need to hurry up and get the suspension done on mine, and soon!

List Of Parts To Come:
120L inline transfer tank
King front springs - Replace Icons
Tell me more about the inline tank. Is there finally one available or will you have it custom made?

What's the benefit of the Kings vs. Icons?

Keep the updates coming!

The transfer tank will be a custom unit made from 1/4 aluminum and mounted where the spare tire now goes under the truck. It will be 120L and be wired with a remote switch inside the cab which I can turn on and it will dump fuel into the main tank. The gap where the spare tires goes is quite large and I have taken a few measurements and I should be able to get a nice big tank high mounted in this area. I haven't worked out all the details yet, a few more things have to be in place first like the rear bumper.

As for the King Springs. I'm looking at getting a higher rate spring from King at 700lbs (Icon 650lbs). which should take the weight of the bumper and winch a lot better than the Icon spring right now as I'm getting a lot of sag from them and I really don't like how much I'm having to turn the coil-overs up to get the lift I want.

I working with Kevin from High Rollers trucks and King on getting a spring that will work a lot better for this extra weight. Since I did the spring change after breaking one, I haven't been very impressed with the new springs from Icon. I'm also, when I do the spring change am going to make the Icon coil-over extended coil-overs, a bit more dropout would be nice sometimes.

http://www.kingshocks.com/springs.php?action=coil_springs

very big selection of springs, so I think something should fit, just worried about finding the right poundage.

EDIT - I'm hoping the 14 X 700 spring will work with the new extended coil-over.
