Looks cool! How did those JK's do?

well there's no denying there Jeeps, the 4 doors I think have a little bit more of an advantage over the 2 doors, the longer wheel base helps out alot but the grey one, Kevins, is riding on 37 in pro comp mud terrains with a 4.5" Rubicon express lift and he walked through the hole I had to winched out of. not much stopped him all day. bigger tires do help :)

I will say this, I buried my Tacoma up the the doors in red clay and our old jeep too and would never do it again, should have learned my lesson with the jeep. Took me days of washing to get all the mud out from underneath!

How are those aluminum skids holding up after stuff like that? Dragging through mud isn't easy on stuff, especially if theres rocks etc in it.

Does look like a lot of fun though!

Also looks real nice there, I miss trees. Thats why I liked WY best, had the desert but you could find trees too. Here its just desert and alkali flats.

the skids are holding up really well, being 1/4 thick there's lots of material to wear through, there a few really good marks and scratches on them and they take the abuse very well. I dragged my truck through all that mud on mostly winch power and skids never looked back going over some of the rocks in the hole.

yeah lots of trees here in Canada just waiting to jump out at you and take a fender for lunch :)

It took me all of last week to get all the mud out from everywhere, but I guess thats wheeling. Power washer really helps out.

Sorry, I didn't get back to you before.

Nope, sensors wouldn't work, so I taped into the Trans oil cooler line at the front of the truck, and for the oil pressure I'm using the stock auto meter sensor and oil pressure sandwich plate that goes between the oil filter and oil filter base and then I used the ports in it for measuring oil pressure and temp, but I don't have the oil temp gauge.

similar to this but meant for a Tacoma.

I got mine off ebay too :) works wicked and easy to install too.

sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Life kinda took over for a bit.

No worry! ^_^ Thanks for the info.

Did you get the 4.56 in yet? Went on a 560 miles trip this past weekend to Downieville (~6000ft) in the Sierra. The truck has to work (SC kicks in) on any incline or headwind, start to think maybe need to re gear in the future. Average 16mpg for the trip.

No unfortunately I haven't yet :(.

My boy has been sick over the past few weeks, so he is taking up most of the time. July looks like a write off for me to get anything done on the truck, but August seems to be the month, I just wanna get the truck done so I can do a little testing on everything before I get to drive to Baja. I'm pretty sure that the new 4:56 gears will help in the MPG though. I've been watching my scangauge and doing some math, they should be good for another few MPG. I notice it too on hills and wind.

Thanks he's getting better which is really good.

I'm really looking forward to the trip, I'm hoping to hoist a few  with some of the guys from the forum, as I travel down through the US.

Had some time to work on the truck this past weekend. very easy install, I got the Soltek wiring harness with them as well and it was just a matter of plugging everything thing, running the wires and that was it supper easy.

4 new Soltek's ready for the Baja night.

2 - spots & 2- Driving = 400W.

Wicked light so far, very bright at night, now just have to do some aiming and they're all set. would highly recommend them, very tough. Metal casing and glass lens, I got the lexan covers for the lights to protected the glass.

PS - Thanks to Kevin & Robyn at HRT OFF-Road for the Killer Lights and all the rest of my junk :)

The lights look good.

I have a couple questions. Excuse my ignorance
Do you have a dual band ham?
and
What are the metal eyes you have bolted on each side of your winch?

No, the 2800 is a single band. Mostly used for a bit of wheeling with friends and chasing in Baja and general Ham use, I just got it about a month ago. Haven't ad much time to sit down with it.

The eye hooks are for d-ring recovery points. ARB and there great wisdom didn't put any D-ring mounts or recovery points in the new bumper, so I got creative with some engineering help and sandwiched a large 1/4 inch plate behind the ring mounts behind the bumper & used grade 10 bolts. They work great and I haven't had any problems with them.
