2008 Yukon XL Lifted???

I bought a new 2008 Yukon Xl 4 x 4 3/4 ton loaded. It was to be our other expedition truck when we did not need the camper. I took it to a spring shop and had new torsion bar keys installed and more springs in the back to get a 2 inch lift and be able to tow my work trailer and houseboat. After the lift we had bad vibrations in the auto 4 x 4 mode only. They had the lower the truck back to stock to get the vibration out. Then when I towed the boat the vibration started back. We took it to the shop and was informed that you can not tow in 4 x 4 mode. the truck waas not enginered to tow in 4 x 4. After many hours on the phone with GMC, that was the end result. Do not tow. The lady I had to deal with ask me straight out. Why would you need to tow something in four wheel drive. How do you answer a question like that? This is the real world no computer 4 x 4 world. She did not understand. She refused to allow me to speak to another person. When I called back and gave them all the info they ask for before they will transfer you, They said no one else could help me. Now $50,000.00 for a truck that is not enginered to tow in 4 x 4. Has anyone lifted a new Yukon??

I lifted my 2002 Tahoe but the suspension has some differences from the 2007+ body line that you have now. I may suggest that you look for GMFullSize.com or FullSizeChevy.com to see if anyone there can answer your question.

I have had no issues with my lift, at all. Don't know why you would have problems...

Are you towing in 4x4 on pavement? If so, how far?

I tried towing in snow, ice and heavy rain. As long as I need to. Not on dry roads.

You also have front coil-overs, so you might want to ask the tech why he installed "torsion bar keys". I'm also wondering how you lifted the rear. You said that you added more "springs", but since you are coil, I'm assuming you replaced the standard coils with aftermarket ones?

Is your 4wd system on the Yukon full-time or part-time?

I don't have a Chevy/GM, but I wanted to address the towing in 4WD. My Montero manual actually suggests towing in full-time 4WD to carry the load better (acrross the whole drivetrain) and to keep the diffs cooler by sharing the load.

The rear is leaf spring not coil. This is 3/4 ton. I think the front is straight torsion bar. I use a weight dist hitch to keep every thing level. It did not help the vibration. It vibrated in auto 4 x 4 and manual 4 x 4.

you mentioned that it does this in auto 4wd. what about 4hi. Although I have an older suburban, I have towed numorus times in 4hi and 4lo with no problem, although I am only doing at most 10mph or so.

So, Have you tried using non auto mode, and how fast are you going.

I tend to agree, if I am in 4hi doing 30-40mph in the snow or heavy rain, you should not have a vibration towing with a "3/4 ton tow vehicle"

Hey, you're right! The GMC website isn't all that stellar.

Interesting this is.........this should be a no brainer to lift and tow without issues, so I'm not sure why you are having issues. Have you talked with anyone that has a similar setup that tows?
