Yep for sure. If buying new, and you can afford it, grab the high altitude. Every creature comfort in the book. We bought ours because the dealer traded my hardly ableson in on it, and I sort of had to grab the one they had in their dealer for over 6mon. Even as the cheap altitude package model, we love it. For the driving we are going to do with it, the FD1 package is perfect, and you get rid of that gawd awful cvt then. You can add everything that comes on the FDII package to an FD1 besides the low range gearing. Which when I had my FDII I used a total of 3 times, more as a lets try it. and I put that up river beds etc. Never needed it. The 6spd is so much nicer to drive than my FDII was. Plus the reliability of the CVT is very questionable, I had two, still own one, and both have given me trouble. Needless to say I will never buy a vehicle with a CVT in it anymore. Not worth the headaches. I have since learned that I could have got a HIGH ALTITUDE model with less than 6000 kms on it for only about 2000 more than my base model altitude. DAMN. ha ha .

Either way, they are awesome even if I have to crank my windows down!

Well my line predictions were spot on. I now sit at 18 inches in the front and 19 inches in the rear or from the ground 32 inches in the front and 33 inches in the rear. It also rides like a new vehicle now. Changing the cv axles stopped the creaking and the wobble in the front end. I'm less stoked about the loss of ground clearance in the front but the ride quality and having a stout and sound rig is worth the trade for me. I'm not gonna be using my riot for any extreme off-roading so this works for my needs. Also having an extra inch of clearance in the rear will help with overloading the cargo and towing.

Right on. I knew it was the axles.. Plus the rake give the rig a bitter ride too.
That was a good call! I'm really glad it made the creaking noise go away as well. That noise was really getting under my skin lol.

I wish i could buy new...however thanks to a major disaster involving a local dealership involving a '14 Toyota Camry i bought brand new my credit is now seriously compromised. So sadly it will be used for me. Right now im giving a lot of thought debating if i even need the ability of the 4x4 and could live with the FWD version or not.

Yeah, lots. Have a whole summer planned.
Awesome! We are gonna take a lot of weekend trips. Last year we did 2 big trips, 1 to a 4x4 beach and the other to a theme park. This year it's all about the camping and canoeing!

We are going camping pretty well every weekend this summer. either tent, or our trusty pop up camper. Plus have 2 weeks in florida booked for the last week in june. We will be keeping tabs on all of it on our new blog site. Should be cool.
