With a 10 day trip in the Sierras coming up I finally pulled the trigger on a roof top tent. After a lot of research, I chose the CVT Mt. Shasta. I bought it from Goose Gear in Westminster. Brian is a really great guy and I'm certainly going to be going back to him to get a custom fridge slide soon.

I have the same vehicle with a 4" lift and 35s, I didn't trim my 10A sliders and they've never once rubbed. I like your rack setup, I wonder if it would work with a snorkel or not..

That is a sweet looking trailer! I have been looking for a trailer that I would like and I believe I have found it! Is there any manufacture tags on that utility bed?

Tembo Tusk Skottle/Blue Ridge Overland Storage Bag

I'm always trying to tweak my setup to maximize comfort/capability and minimize clutter. To this end, I ordered a Tembo Tusk Skottle and Blue Ridge Overland storage bag from Blue Ridge Overland. I received it this weekend and tried it out on my deck in preparation for leaving on a 10 day trip. It is really simple to use/clean. Once you've cooked something you can move it to the outside of the bowl to stay warm while you cook other stuff. So far I've only cooked breakfast on it but I can already tell it will work great for a wide variety of camp cooking. Of course, teh storage bag I ordered from Blue Ridge is bomb proof and really well made. I'll post more pictures from the road.

Battery/Solar Upgrage

I'm working with Goose Gear to upgrade my battery system and back it up with solar. My instant need is to keep my Engel 45 fridge going for the 4 days I'll be away from my vehicle while hiking/fishing a portion of the John Muir trail. The plan so far is to replace my stock battery with a Sears Platinum Group 31 Marine battery and add a Renogy 100W flexible solar panel with a 10 amp charge controller. This should give me enough charge while I'm away to keep my battery topped off given the Engel's low draw. I originally though I would go with a dual battery system, but given my low power requirements, I opted for a simpler solution. All of the parts showed up today. Install starts tomorrow night. I'll update with pictures.

Last minute being last minute I wasn't able to complete my full battery/solar upgrade but was able to get the battery in securely and a temporary install for the solar charge controller that will do for my upcoming trip and hold me over until I can get the full pro install from Goose Gear.

Nice battery! Were you able to use the factory battery tray and tie downs? A great battery is one of the most important things in an expo vehicle, so I've been looking to upgrade soon and want the most capacity possible.

Trip Report - Western Sierras/Kaiser Pass Pictures Part 1

Just returned from my trip to the Sierras and it was awesome. The CVT Mt. Shasta RTT and fridge/solar from Goose Gear were game changers in terms of comfort and convenience. We were able to keep all of our food cold throughout the trip without getting soggy. The trip from San Diego to Vermilion Valley/Lake Edison/Bear Creek area is a slog but worth it. We spent 9 days backpacking through the John Muir Wilderness catching and releasing (for the most part) hundreds of fish.
