I wish we could go to 16s on the outbacks. im jelly

What I really want are 15's, but can't find a way to justify spending another $800 on a set of wheels.

I was going to comment that some Subaru dude is blocking the trail and making folks go around. LOL
Always amazes me how much travel Subaru seems to put into their suspension. Changing the oil in the two cars my wife and I had for years a 2001 VW jetta and a 2001 Legacy GT Limited side by side oil changing the Legacy sat lower than the VW but nearly maxed out my small floor jack trying to get the front wheels off the ground vs the VW not so much. LOL The GT was a blast on the dirt roads.

Lol! The best way to direct the flow of traffic is to create an obstacle no one dares to drive through. I always worry someone is going to slide right into my car though.

Good idea going down a size! That was the best off-road mod that I did other than skid plates. It's amazing what a little more sidewall flex does for traction. Not to mention when you air down it's a lot smoother ride!

Love how it looks with the lift. I've always thought lifted foresters look 'right'. They're just too low from the factory.

Yeah, it almost looks factory the way it sits today. I just can't wait to go try it out.

Test fitting is always fun stuff isn't it?

16" 02 WRX wheel +55 offset with 225/70R16 Cooper Discoverer AT3's at 28.6" diameter.

I'm going from the factory 17" wheel with a Cooper 235/60R17.

It looks so much better like this. May I ask how is your mileage and acceleration/braking affected?

I'll let you know as soon as I get the entire set on!

Nice ride. Like the vid of you going up that steep dirt hill. You can really see the awd working!

Thanks! I've vowed to never attempt that hill again and find join in watching everyone else attempt it, haha.

I wasn't happy with just a 2" lift in the rear since the subframe was lowered 2" to compensate for the fender clearance.

So I called up Mr. Anderson from Anderson Design & Fabrication and he sent me some 2.5" lift blocks for the rear. I then sent them to my powdercoater:

I'll post pics of the entire car once I get my new tires on and hit the trails next weekend.

Thanks for sharing. Im seriously thinking of lifting my grand vitara and it's similar drivetrain wise (4 speed, 160ish HP) so I'd take note of your experience with the Subaru.
Edit: I have exactly the same tire, same dimension. Did you tried them yet? I love them.

Compilation video of the past year in the Forester:

Some one get this guy Xmode. HA HA

The stuff I've seen the advanced modern traction hunting systems do is pretty amazing I bet you would be really amazed by the new Forester with the Xmode system.

No Problem! I wish I could lift it even higher without having to do any additional modifications, but I'm stuck here for now.

Still waiting to get my set of tires, I'll be trying them out in a couple of weeks. I ordered this one tire from another source (work) and got it faster than Discount Tire.

I've seen it in action and am super impressed with it. I'm glad that I at least have VDC, some of the older models (before 2007?) have no form of traction assistance other than maybe a limited slip rear diff.

Oh yes the VDC was the stuff to have back in the day the limited slip which my Legacy GT Limited had was good but you could still find crossed up situations where the limited slip couldn't limit spin enough to drive the car forward on just two tires. VDC was superior in being able to vector that power but the new systems are just super cool and really impressive.
