I have a 2013 jeep wrangler and the engine light came on. System states it is OK. I have 30,800 mi and was wondering if the light pops on for the 30,000 mi service?

In the message center (or whatever you call it) it states "system OK".

If the check engine light is on, there is a problem with the engine which has been detected by the various sensors. If it is a serious air/fuel ratio problem which could result in catalytic converter damage, then the light will actually flash.
It will not come on to indicate normal maintenance which is due, nor is it a 'trick' to get you into the dealer.
The light will turn back off by itself if the fault which made it turn on does not reoccur within 3 warmup and drive cycles.
Take it to the dealer, as it should be covered under warranty.
I would suggest that you first run by an auto parts store or a friend and let them find out the fault code number and description with a scantool, so at least you have an idea of what the issue is before you take it in. Scantools which check and reset faults are inexpensive (less that $100).
The check engine light has come on a few times on my 2012, and I have a laptop and software that I use to communicate with the ECM's, check sensor values, and check and reset faults.
It came on once when I stalled it in traffic and quickly restarted, the code was for a faulty manifold pressure sensor (a fluke).
It came on repeatedly for a random cylinder misfire fault code which resulted in the dealer replacing the left cylinder head on the engine.
It came on for a faulty intake air temp sensor when I forgot to plug the sensor back in after assembling the intake piping (self induced).

Thanks for the replies, just made an appointment with Dealer. Will be taking it to autozone this weekend to check the codes.
