2015/2016 New 3rd gen Tacoma Debut in Detriot

Still curious about 2 things:

1. Is the long bed still offered, and will we be able to get TRD Offroad package (locker) with it?

2. Has the legroom in the rear increased at all? The cab looks like it may be slightly larger, but I can't tell. The doublecabs really are pretty cramped for rear passengers. My 04 doublecab tundra has plenty of rear leg room without being overly large on the exterior.

It looks like the seatbottoms still won't be adjustable. That's just cheap.

I really wish they'd just make an updated 1st gen Tundra. Mine is the perfect size vehicle for me.

I don't think we know this yet.

Probably not is the answer. Overall length is 3" longer in the front and 1" in the back. It seems like most of that was taken up in increased crumple zones (much of the big nose is empty).

Has anyone seen the bed dimensions yet?

Just wondering if it will fit the same toppers/flippac/campers that the pervious generation did.

The biggest difference between the beds is that they have eliminated to "dip" that was under the rear window. I have not seen the dimensions at this point though.

Other apparent bed difference is there is no rail along the front of the bed anymore (side rails still there). As to exact dimensions, haven't seen any myself.

It looks to be maybe an inch to an inch or so taller too.

Thats precisely the reason that I still have mine, it is a full size V-8 powered truck.. that still fits in a garage...lol.

Guessing the new V6 is going to have 25-30 more ponies than the 4.7 V8, and torque about the same. So in a sense it is an updated 1st gen Tundra.

If the 1st Gen Tundy didn't have the Ford Sable dash, and a manny trans I would be all over it. I do like the subdued exterior style tho'.

My wife's 2010?4runner has great power on paper, rivaling my tundra. On paper. And only on paper.

Tundra: 315lb/ft @ 3400

That's not a rival. That's like UO vs OSU.
On 91 octane the 1GR-FE with dual VVT-i will do 285 HP and 290 lb-ft. The 2UZ-FE does 270 HP and 315 lb-ft. So on paper the numbers are reasonably comparable. In the real world I have no idea.

So, IF bkg is using premium fuel, either A) Spec sheets from the same manufacturer are inconsistent or B) Someone's relying a bit too much on the butt dyno on actual performance.

Remember Tundra still gets all of the torque 1000rpms sooner.

As the saying goes, there's no replacement for displacement!!! V8!
