Totally agree, the GM twins do look better than the 3rd gen Tacoma. Especially with the chin dam removed.

Not to mention that with the ARB work up it doesn't look bad, either (Holden Colorado for reference).

You might want to take a closer look at that white one. :p

Main Line Overland is fitting a winch bumper to a Colorado.

Me...kinda over the whole winch bumper thing. Would keep it plain.

I won't lie, I like those truck DiD posted with the ARB bumpers. But cheap side of me agrees with above. Simple light bar, maybe a recovery point(s) up front, and a hi-lift in the bed. No need for heavy bumpers, winch, etc.

Nice truck, Upcruiser. I need to get rid of my chin spoiler as well, but the cheap side of me keeps me from taking it off.

Sharp looking truck Upcruiser, those look better than the Tacomas.

Thanks, yeah I do too. We were looking at one of these or a Tacoma TRD Off-road in quicksand. The color is pretty subtle, said the looks of the Comorados in general. The Tacoma is a bit more in your face and we both just want something that blends in and doesn't draw any attention. It's going to be my wife's daily driver, a tow rig for our camper occasionally (the 2500 Suburban will still be the prime tower), and just planning to keep the bed open to use as a pickup. Maybe put one of those retractable soft top caps on it so we can haul mountain bikes out of the weather if needed. It will probably see dirt like the Suburban does but all the crazy stuff is reserved for the Land Cruiser. I am not going to abuse a new truck. Maybe in 5 years when it's paid off or something. Going to drive it a bit then see what stuff we might want to upgrade. I think this thing with a Habitat on it would be a killer traveling rig.

Is ARB supposedly bringing something like that to the States? I like the clean look too but where we live animal strikes are super common and I fit bullbars or some sort of front end protection on our trucks for those reasons.

I am glad we did it. Tuesday, the day after we brought it home we got 14" of snow and that thing would have plowed a berm of snow straight into our garage. I figure it would have gotten busted pretty quick in our winters up here, let alone in the dirt in the summer. The dealership offered to remove it for us, no charge so it was a no brained. It's a bit of a hassle removing it so that was cool.

Couldn't say if ARB is planning on a Chevy/GMC version. The Holden/global Colorado is I understand not exactly the same truck. How different, similar, market demand, I dunno. I think the truck would look good with one, it is a decent looking truck. I think each generation of Tacoma looks more aggressive than the last. I think the 3rd just looks too something, toothy, like a grinning Gary Busey or John Elway. They cleaned up the wheel wells thankfully, but the stamped tail gate, meh. But the front end is awful.

I really like the ARB on my '91 Toyota, but that was a traditional bar that didn't really stick out that much. No air bags, pedestrian friendly zones, 5 MPG nonsense. It was just a bumper mounted to the end of the frame with a ton of bolts. I like having substantial front and rear bumpers, animal strike potential, shopping carts, places to lash tie downs, dog leashes, ladder to reach stuff stored in the garage.

I don't personally care for the highly stylized bumpers that seem common with the bro crowd nor do I like faux bumpers that have a little hoop here or there. It's got to serve a purpose, recovery point, winch carrier, protection.

With that I have to admit that I wasn't sure about the one for my Tacoma, which stuck out pretty far I thought but I've warmed up to it and it's already done it's job, taking the brunt of a chuck of ice that decided to liberate itself from a truck on the highway.

FWIW, I seriously also considered doing something like this, a reinforced front receiver and recovery points. Doesn't offer any protection but solves the main problem I have with Toyota. Why don't they put two decent recovery points on them like the Big 3? A company out in Baltimore called Mobtown makes this one (I have their sliders).

I am 100% on the same page with you in the whole functional bumper thing. Maybe I am getting older but I find most modern stylized bumpers and definitely wheels for that matter so tacky. And the plastic front ends make any such optional bumper replacement such a pain. Not going to lie, I like trucks basic but comfortable. I am a little nervous of all the technology spiderwebbed throughout this new truck. Is it going to be a giant nightmare in 15 years? I have had old iPads get wonky with age, imagine these integrated systems. I am hoping to be proved wrong.

You still have your '91 Yota? That's awesome! Didn't you have a flippac or a wildernest on that or something? It's been awhile, I have reduced my online presence a bunch especially forum time so haven't been on here a ton. Finding it fun though now again as a way to kill time on airport layovers.

I have an ARB on my Tacoma, but never liked the looks of it...it draws too much attention, but since it is on there...it will stay on there. If...."IF"..I get a new truck, I'll do the hidden winch thing. Never felt the need for a winch in AZ, in Idaho I do.

What first got me wanting an ARB was a 90's something red Toyota Pickup project truck one of the magazines did years and years ago, (maybe 4Wheel&Offroad or Four Wheeler) thought...wow, that is cool....now that they are popular, don't want one. Yeah I am one of those guys...as soon as something becomes a trend I don't care for it.

Think I use my bumper as a coffee stand than anything else...seems like my coffee mug always ends up on there when I am outside screwing around.

The Tacoma is too in your face, it really sticks out like a sore thumb, don't care for it. I have tried to force myself to like it, but can't seem to...something that you're going to spend money on you shouldn't force yourself to like it. I always liked the looks of the 1st Gen Tundra, the Colorado is along the same lines as that. A customer had one in our parking lot last evening, got to take a good hard look at it, really like it.

Habitat on a diesel Collie would be killer. I emailed GM to ask if they are going offer the diesel in the extra cab in the future, said they don't plan to. The only misses for me, no diesel in the extra cab or manual trans. Could live with the auto V6, though. At least they offer the V6 in the base model, where Toyota does not. Diesel would be nice, being able to get 30 mpg for commuting and hauling the dirt bike on the weekends, and having enough power to yank around a small travel trailer for trips and the 3-4 day weekends I like to do.

The CCLB, might work better for us than the extra cab come to think of it. Could haul two dirt bikes in the bed, the MX bags would probably be easier to toss in the CC than the EC.

Would probably do something like this.

I can count on one hand when I actually had to use my ARB, that was all for recovery points. Don't really need a full on winch bumper for that.

That Mobtown recovery points and receiver is perfect. Light, simple, effective. I really wouldn't have much use for a winch, especially for the places I go, but recovery points are nice. For those occasional trips that would require a winch, I could just carry one of those portable ones that attach to the receiver.

Clutch - Hopefully the Ford Ranger comes through with what you need. I'm not fond of the styling, but maybe the US version will look better.
