Not yet. Need to drive 3+hrs for a Forscan re-do. Will advise further after that, especially now that the scan for 37s won't cause the CEL I was dreading.

Just buy the hypertech Calibrator gizmo so you have the tool forever and will probably save money versus 6 hours of driving/fuel.

And no more 6.2 / 6 speed for 2023. See how the new 6.8 / 10 speed does as a slimmed down 7.3 / 10 speed? Could drive demand for used 6.2 / 6 speeds as it sunsets.

Understood, but visiting my Ford wizard gets me time catching up, drooling over his latest custom project, playing with coding on other modules, checking this/that, brainstorming other upgrades, etc.

No re-engineering. Simplifying drivetrain, actually. the 6.8, unlike the 6.2, is identical to the 7.3 so just some bore/stroke magic to have a base engine and a "premium" engine, but get rid of the very different 6.2 engine. And I think it's the same 10 speed for both the 6.8 and 7.3 so one production run and one set of part numbers moving forward. Economy of scale will make this a good economical move for Ford.

Very good point. Plus the 6.8/7.3 are a far simpler design with more robust parts. No more 16 spark plugs to change or cam phasers to fail.

Absolutely!!! I'm so sick of that gen of engine it's ridiculous. Engineering nightmare IMO.

6.8 NA 10R100 Transmission. F250 / 350 XL / XLT trim levels.

7.3 NA Godzilla "upgraded" 10R140 Transmission. (Same as 6.7) All trim levels?

6.7 Standard and 6.7 High Output. (larger oil pan, Water Jacketed Turbo) 10R140 Transmission. (Same as 7.3) All trim levels.

I have a 6.2 with the 6 speed and 3.73s. It's not the same but in manual mode I downshift when we start up a pass. It'll pull passes in 5th instead of letting the computer shift down to 4th on it's own. I've gained about 1.5mpgs and it's a more calm experience. Last trip I averaged 13.2mpgs. With the 10 speed you may have to manually shift an extra click. I enjoy the extra engagement driving but I get that it's not for everyone.

Ford specific is also the FORScan software. I use it on my smartphone and tablet for diagnostics. Extended License Windows version I believe can reprogram?

Definitely mine is shifting too low, and making the engine lug, once I find someone with a ForScan setup who knows how to use it I'm thinking that the shift point should be closer to 2500rpm, but maybe also adding to the computer that it's on 37's might help.

In the video he mentions the 6.8 is more optimized for efficiency while the 7.3 gets more power, so I guess that will be a way to differentiate. It makes sense to have a "new" base engine that shares so much with the 7.3, but at the same time the all the development cost of the 6.2 was done years ago, and they just needed to churn them out. The 10spd has also been mated with it as an option. And it's an engine with a good rep. I guess my point is that they really didn't need a new base engine, and it saves them money only compared to developing something completely new... unless the marginal cost of producing the 6.8 is actually less than the 6.2.
