2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Those numbers sound good to me. The Ranger will average better economy than my Tacoma and preform better at altitude. A lot of buddies drive full-size trucks. Its more work. They are big and heavy. I wouldn't benefit from the load capacity or extra room so I will stay midsize. We travel light and don't have kids so we have less to consider than most people.

You are right. As much as I look at fullsizes, really don't want anything that big. We get a lot of vehicles in and out at work. Get to see side by side comparisons often, while an F150 isn't all that bigger than a 3rd Gen Tacoma, imo. But it is still an awfully big truck.

Price-wise you don't have to spec it out to $43K either, when I do the build on the website, it is under $30K...give it a year or two with Ford's incentives, willing to bet you can get one closer to $25K.

Ok just watched a TFLtruck video on this truck. TFLtruck guys just have no clue how to test or evaluate vehicles. Dude drives 75 feet at 4 mph and starts to give his "initial impression". Then the guy knocks on the dash and other materials to test the "quality"...That said, it looks like Ford has decided to add fake V8 sound to the truck when you get on the gas....what a joke! Probably the lamest thing I have ever heard of on a "truck".... Do you think this is on the Australian version...my bet, I hope it's not, is HAIL NO. Just put the V8 in there Ford! I don't want fake V8 sound out of the stereo speakers on my turbo four cylinder truck. I'm still in disbelief.

You can't really knock TFL for the brevity of their "test." Ford was only letting the public take very short city trips in the Ranger; there will be more extensive "testing" down the road.

The TFL guys had limited time and access with the truck; they did their best at giving an initial impression.

Did Ford add v8 sounds or did TFL add it to the video? It's been a while since I watched the video. It wasn't that good so I'm not going to watch it again to find out.

Ford added it. I guess they do it to many of their models. Probably the lamest auto feature ever. An I still think TFL is overrated and really don't know how to test or evaluate effectively.

I honestly think Ford blew it on this truck. If they wanted to own the truck market they could. All they had to do was release the 2100 lb payload, 3.5 diesel Australian version. But instead they chose a watered down, single engine choice, basically a modern version of the old Ranger. After all they have to protect their precious F150 sales. Nope they blew it and could have owned this segment and more.

******! Apparently the higher trim f150s have had that feature since 15'. Supposedly it can be shut off. Gross!

If the Ranger came with a diesel, 33s, and huge payload it still wouldn't hurt F150 sales. People like full-size trucks. I think Ford brought a competitive truck to the market. The Ranger has solid payload numbers for it's class and better than a lot of full size half tons. The Aussies version would have been cool but I never expected that to happen.

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.

Is it just different springs in the US model or is the chassis completely different?

I like TFL well enough in general, and like watching their videos to kill time.

I will admit though, I think a knock-knock on the dash of a vehicle is stupid. I never touch that part of the vehicle. Why would I want to pay an extra $1,000 to have "soft touch" materials on something I never touch? TFL is not the only media reviewers who seem to want everything on the interior to be "soft touch."

Supposedly they altered the frame to meet US safety standards. I'm guessing that means it's lighter duty.

I'm hoping that is not the case....the lighter duty part, not the safety standards.

The reported payload is ~1.8k lbs which is better than other midsized trucks. Hopefully that payload # is indicative of the robustness of the design overall.

I'm going to guess that the frame alteration will only come into play, in crashes. For the crash safety standards.

That is dumb.... It just makes the owners oblivious to the horrible sounds they're inflicting on the rest of us every time they mash the gas peddle. Rude.

The fake v8 sound is actually pretty nice from the driver's seat. Most people buy vehicles to please themselves do they not?
