Well that did not go as expected.

After the last road trip it was time to do what I had been putting off, drive to my dealer to have some recalls taken care of and have the speedometer calibrated. All the research I did over the last few months and that was the only option for the speedometer calibration.

Since we have been primarily building and not using, about to change, it was no big deal on the above.

Arrived at the dealer, they are really good to work with. The tech's went crazy over the truck, can be a good thing :) . Got the recalls done pretty quick and the service tech went to order the speedometer recalibration package for the truck......AND......not available. She was kind enough to let me see everything she was seeing on the screen with Dealer connect. Service manager comes onboard, odd looks, and can not find where we can order the recalibration package. They have done it on MULTIPLE older models but not a 2022 or newer.

After a bit.......NOTHING!
Sitting in the waiting room enjoying my coffee and free wifi I come up with this:

https://www.aev-conversions.com/product/procal-snap-hd-ram/ The link shows 4500/5500 online.

Last time I checked, which was a few months ago, no one had a module yet. I even called Hypertech.
Everyone seemed to be working on an "inline" version.

One of the tech remembers the 37" restriction on the older RAMs when performed by the dealer but he had yet to see a 41" tire, really 39.5 ISH, on a newer RAM.

TO THE GROUP.........If ANYONE has experience with either the AEV 2022 Module or another way of adjusting the speedometer, transmission shift points, in a 2022 or newer RAM 4500 or 5500 PLEASE chime in. It is different in the 2500 and 3500's, according to what I can find, especially the NAV versions of those trucks.

I plan on ordering the AEV unit this next week if we can not find a fix. Good news is it is only $75 bucks more than the dealer wanted to do it and I own the module for later :)

THANK YOU!

I have a 21 5500 and used Alpha OBD program. I was able to change it to whatever I wanted and also do other cool stuff.

That was another option I was thinking of but I have ZERO experience with it. Do not get me wrong, this old guy can learn new tricks :). I was going with the quick in a package option, maybe for ease...LOL. Like ANYTHING is "easy" in this process. THANKS!

A general....how hard or easy is it to set up and use. Could be nice to get to other features. Does it "unlock" the computer. Can the dealer tell you have been in there? The service manager did mention Dodge was quick to void warranties if they know you have been fooling around inside.

THANKS AGAIN!

The alfa works well but is a little bit more complicated than what I’m used to. There are lots of online tips with step by step instructions to help you out. you will need a security bypass cable and a obd 2 Bluetooth. I also had to buy an android phone as the alpha won’t work with apple products. I just got a cheap prepaid phone from Walmart for $50. I take off the security dongle when going into the dealer. It will take you a few hours to figure out, go For it!

THANKS for the real world feedback. Still on the fence. Truck will be sitting, getting worked on, for the next month.

Sounds easy enough. Thanks for the link.

WELL WELL...what do we have here. Will not be a cheap option but nice base vehicle. I might be a little biased. Looks like RAM 5500 CAMPERTHING was on to something :)

Umm, RAM5500 isn't a fan. Ask how I know.:p
You could also have your own cab chassis built up like that for less $, and some would argue much better. It does look sweet though.

It is a little intimidating to use and I still worry every time I use it I am going to screw something up, but I am no computer genius myself and have managed to use it for the small number of things so far without issues, including shutting off the tire pressure warnings and adjusting the speedo to 40" tires and getting rid of the horn beep every time I lock the doors.

I just started learning fusion360 for comparison and that is way beyond trying to figure out AlphaOBD, so I would say go for it!

Yeah, stock springs and shocks with a spacer and bracket lift, flares that dont even remotely cover the tires finished off with some premium lawn edging, and a bumper thats bolted together with like 10 parts. Hard Pass! :)

AEV is the epitome of the Overland Marketing machine.

Surprised that @mk216v hasnt ordered 2 already [INSERT KISSY FACE EMOJI]

@StenchRV yeah, AlphaODB any day of the week over anything AEV markets! :)

I can't believe AEV is using stock springs/shocks on that 4500/5500, with just a spacer kit to give lift.
Sounds like they're wanting to compete with DBL Designs junk?
