16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
I run about 3 or 4 pairs of them and they are 50/50 old and new... They get in and out easily but the biggest thing was at 225/230ish I would clip out of them way too easily with the SL models I had? Otherwise I would have just run them and most of friends do (either CB or Time it seems, very few friends on Shimano it seems)... The problem with RaceFace is the attachment is on the crank side which can come loose, also their bottom brackets are really poor quality, hardly last a season.. I also already killed a XT bottom bracket last year in a little over a season on the bike that sees the real use which is my Ventana El Bastardo (650b 5" bike build to about 29.5 lbs, absolutely awesome). With single speed there is way more torque so and of these issues will be compounded. I don't think it is that big a deal but if I were buying again I would change it out. To me it seems the Shimano and TruVativ cranks are probably the best right now of the big corporate options... ?

Is it just the XC BB offerings from Race Face that suck then?
I have been running a set of Diabolus cranks on 3 different bikes for like 5 seasons. I have been waiting to kill them so I can get something lighter but I have never had to touch them. Every time I open up the BB it is spotless, and this is on a big bike that takes WAY more of a pounding.

Shimano and Race Face external bbs are crap. The bearings fell out of my last Race Face when I pulled the cranks. The bb was less than 3 months old. The isis would do this to but it took longer in my experience. Try the Hope or the Chris King. They are more spendy at first, but cheaper in the long run.
