Well the truck and hiatus made it home safely! The road trip home was a great test. My brother had snow, driving rain, a wind storm, and freezing temps and the Hiatus did absolutely amazing.

during the wind storm with the hiatus popped up there was almost no noise, absolutely no breeze coming into the camper and no ratting or anything.

same goes for the driving rain with it popped up. No leaks no nothing. Dry as a bone.

When heating it with a buddy heater it did wonderful. Heated up fast and stayed warm considering the bottom of the truck bed is still raw with no insulation.

Here she is parked in my drive way and building it will start next week!

Camper is looking great! Where in AZ are you located? I am in the Tempe/Chandler area of Phoenix so I'll keep an eye out and hopefully see it around!

I’m located in Tucson, AZ. Not too far from you. If you ever consider getting a camper from @HiatusCampers let me know. We can organize a meet so you can tour mine and see it first hand. That’s an open invite to all people here on the forum. If you are ever in Arizona and wanna see a Hiatus Camper in person, let me know. I am super happy to show folks what they are all about. Not everyone has the time to go all the way to Washington to do that, so I am trying to help interested people and @HiatusCampers to bridge that gap when I can.

Also my truck will be on display at the Hiatus booth at Overland Expo West this year! They are using my truck and build to promote the full sized version, which is super cool. So if you are gunna be there, be sure to swing by and say hi.

Nothing crazy, but still super cool. I just installed the Wilco swing arm and the 1up Bike rack to the truck. I’m an avid mountain biker so this needed to be done ASAP. With these two options, the bike rack doesn’t budge, rattle, shake, make noise, or anything else. It is crazy sturdy. For those of you who mountain bike and dont like their expensive bikes being tossed everywhere while on a dirt road, I highly recommend this setup. Anyways, I think it turned out look damn cool! Here are some pics.

Also tomorrow we are going to take the rig and do some wheeling. I want to test how it does offroad with the Hiatus on it. Ill post an update and pics of that over the weekend. Cheers!

Thanks! I would love to check the truck out if you're ever up this way, or I will come by and check it out at the expo.

As a heads up, I’m headed to Sedona for the Mountain Bike Festival March 5,6,7, and 8. If you are interested in potentially getting a Hiatus down the road I’d be happy to meet up on the 8th (this coming Sunday) on my way home through Phoenix and give you a tour. Anyways, just a thought and no worries if wanna rain check on that. I go north bound often so there will be other times to meet.

Cheers!

OK, this weekend I went into Reddgington Pass. This local area has a LOT of 4wheel trails. I really wanted to test the whole rig. I‘ve never 4wheeled a full sized truck so I wanted to Know what ol‘ Puller could do. Honestly, I was shocked how well it did. It’s bone stock on 33” tires and didn‘t skip a beat. No spinning, no bottoming out, no bumper dragging (yet Lol). We tackled some good slick rock, boulder gardens, off camber hill sides, tight rocky switch backs, deep ruts and the truck did flawlessly. I would say the trail was a soft 3 out of 5 difficulty. 4x4, high clearance, and carful lines are absolutely required for this trail. For any of your Arizona people in here we did the back way to Chiva falls. Not as hard as the standard way, but still a solid trail to play on.

Also I was interested to really push the Hiatus. My question was, after hard wheeling for hours what were the folded walls going to look like? were they going to bash together and scratch up & dent from the rough road? Was the twisting truck on the boulder gardens going to be too much for all the hinges and seems on it? Honestly I was a little scared to open it up after 4 hours of hard wheeling....wasn’t sure what possible damage I was going to find on the panels. BUT to my utter amazement the @HiatusCampers was perfect! Handled it like a total champ. Zero zero zero issues. At this point, selling the sprinter van was the best decision I could have made. Super happy. Anyways, here are my pics from the weekend. I wish I got more of it off-road, but you know how it is when ur out there. You just get excited and forget to take more pics:

I will actually be in Sedona as well, I'll keep an eye out for you while I am there. I'm joining a big group ride Saturday and will most likely be hanging out in the YT area.

New update: The yeti 1400 and solar panel showed up today. I will hook the Hiatus up to it tomorrow or the next day. Right now I am having to replace the fuel line going to injector #1 because it was leaking a very small amount of fuel. I couldn’t really find a good after market one, so had to order one from the dealer, which means stupid money, but nothing I can do about that. More updates coming over the weekend.

The hard sides of the pop up are a very nice feature.

I know FWC is offering a very similar topper now, but it still has the soft sides found in their other models.

Update: So we took last weekend to drive up to Sedona to check out the mountain bike festival there. We camped 3 days out in the flats on the west side of Sedona. Weather was perfect and the mountain bike was amazing. If anyone here loves mountain biking technical trails, go to sedona.

We also thought it would be a good mini-test run in the rig and Hiatus. Trip went great, but I did have the thermostate get stuck open on the last day. So the truck didnt really want to get up to full temp. Not a big deal, but annoying. While I was at it I had a new water pump go on, because it made sense. Wasn’t leaking, but might as well do it while its off. Also ALL fluids were changed. Oil, clutch, brake, tranny, transfer case, diffs, and coolant.

Ill be taking a cool little video of the rig tomorrow (weather permitting). Ill share a link once its edited and completed.
