Got my caliper brackets

Lug stud press homeskool style

I originally bought bolt on caliper bracket which since I am running 14 bolt hubs puts the bracket to far back, I was hoping the find a rotor to conpensate but no dice. So instead I welded the brackets on. To line everything up I held the caliper bolted to the bracket with new pads in it on the rotor where I wanted it. Had my oldest boy step on the brake then closed a valve I have to lock the rear lines (since I have no e brake). With the caliper clamped to the rotor I turned it to put the bleeder straight up. Everything held nicely to tack the bracket in place. Removed the hub, wrapped the spindle and layed down some weld.

I also ran into the ujoint yoke on the axle not being the same as the 14 bolt. I am not sure the year these axles came from but I had to find a ujoint that would cross for the drive line. The size for the 70hd is 1 1/8th cap and the napa ujoint is a 459.

wow what a bunch of work since I last checked this thread....I gotta keep up.

Really looking forward to your fuel mileage reports when all said and done as I still have not moved on my 6.2 conversion yet.

Got the brake and power steering lines hooked up. Used some strap to lower the mounting point for the front brake flex lines
IMG_0844.JPGIMG_0843.JPG
Made a tie rod
IMG_0839.JPG
Rolled around with no shocks
IMG_0845.JPGIMG_0846.JPG
IMG_0847.JPG

Still need to put in ford shock towers in the front, shocks all around and my one inch zero rates in the rear as it sits front high one inch.

for this thing not having shocks or a sway bar, it sure did ride nice. like a caddy over the bumps. very little sway, just the typical amount for a lifted truck. and the thing actually has power with the 4.56s and 33's. turned out nice!
