I live in western kentucky, and if you're willing to drive, there's several different axles near me. Do you need a driver or passenger side drop?

I need the passenger side drop Dana 44. Preferably 3.73, but I'll take whatever. Man. I was just in hazard Kentucky this morning, but now I'm back in birmingham. I looked at the local craigslist there and didn't find anything.

I've left a few messages witheople in Chattanooga and near gulf port MS and haven't gotten a call back. I had a deal with a guy over an axle in Texas. Was going to give him his asking price and he backed out. I don't get people who post stuff on Craigslist and don't really want to sell it. I'm back home and will go out to the salvage yards tomorrow.

You were going to pay his asking price so he thinks he'll find some jack wagon to pay more.lol

I finally bought an axle. I ended up buying a GM 10 bolt. I tore it apart and am just waiting on a bearing kit to finish up. Now that I have it I can figure out what other stuff I need. I stopped by a company called bluetorch fabworks. They were cool and had a lot of the stuff I need to finish my project.

Glad you found an axle! That 10 bolt will hold up in a street vehicle, even some light wheeling if you keep the tires fairly small, and go easy on the skinny pedal....

I don't do much wheeling. It's more of an extended camping rig with light off-roading. I get a month off twice a year and head to the mountains. I needed the axle to move on with the project. I have a couple of weeks off right now and want to get as much done on it as I can. After getting the axle and measuring I think I'm going to stick with the shorter leaf springs I already have. They are from a Chevy Blazer and measure 45" from eyelet to eyelet. And right now I'm just using a set of dodge 8 lug wheels with 32" tires.

Does anyone out there make a rebuild kit for the outside of the 10 Bolt. I bought the diff kit, but couldn't find one for the outside. I'm learning some lessons on this. I bought outer axle housing seals because when I took it all apart the whole axle tube was full of sand. When they got here it was for a 44 and they were too small. Now I am looking for something similar, but can't find anything. This axle was missing a few things when I took it apart. It was missing the wheel bearing spindle spacer, and one side was missing the outer stub dust shield. I started making the shackle mounts. I should be done with them by tomorrow. Once done with that I just need to drill some holes in the frame to sleeve it for the shackle mount holes.

The one thing that I'm not looking forward to is the engine cradle. I wish someone made one that works for the van with the boxed frame. The only ones I've found were for the chevy trucks with the open frame. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow of the bracing and the shackle hangers I made.

I spoke to the guy that is trying to keep Pathfinder Vans going back in May, and he said that he would have some cross-members ready in August, but I never heard back from him. I'll be starting on mine next week, and I'll post plenty of pics in my build thread. I haven't decided what kind of material I'm going to use just yet, but I'm thinking 2"x3" box tubing or something similar. Are you going to plate the frame or reinforce at all? Because of how rough I'm going to be on mine, I'm going to plate the front half of the frame with 1/4" plate, or encase it with an 1/8" wall box tubing.

Sorry for not responding. I've been working non stop on this. I leave town this week for work and will have more time to post. I am planning on reinforcing the frame up front where the angle iron is, and I'm going to build a big c channel for the engine mount. I've got a bunch of pics I will post later this week. The axle is under the van. The front hangers are bolted and welded in, now I'm just having an issue with where to mount the rear shackles. I need to take the time to do some research. Today I'm putting the rear axle in and going to try to mount the shackles and get the drag long made. I don't have a 220 welder so I'm going to have a welder here at the airport come over and weld the important stuff.

I'm finally on the road for work and have time to post. I've got the axle in and the steering done. I have driven it a little around the airport, but no where else. I need to order shocks, rework the engine cradle, and lift the back.
