88 FJ62 Rebuild and LSX Swap

Desdemona (Desi) is here for a crate motor LSX swap and a full rebuild from the ground up. Notice the word "Restoration" is not used but rather rebuild.

Desi arrived with some assistance

Pulled her in for an overall inspection, a well used 62 with a Jasper motor and worn out trans.

LSX is also a generic term for all motors under the LS platform, IE LS series and Vortecs

The original plan was for a 5.3L Erod connect and cruise but that package is no longer available, no idea why. So it is either a 6.2L package or buy the 5.3L a la carte.

Two coats of primer so far on the frame. I am using Eastwood Extreme black. 1st coat of primer, wait 24 hours, second coat of primer, wait 24 hours, top coat, let cure for 48-72 hours before touching.

Well the frame is top coated and cured, ready to handle. The rear axle and related parts have been stripped too bare metal, cleaned and primed, the new leaf springs have been cleaned and primed. It's been raining all night here and currently so I wont be top coating until the humidity drops a bunch.

Thank you, the project is slow currently as I am in the middle of getting the suspension and axles painted and we have had one clear day in the last 1, record rain in many places around here.. The humidity is far too high to expect any kind of good paint work so I'll wait for the weather to break and the humidity to come back down.

I built a shop when I lived in PA, this one was a big part of the choice to purchase this property 5 years ago. Don't wait for the "right" time, it never comes. Just do what you have to do and go for it.

We finally got a break in the rain, that ARK job was starting to look promising. (Noah) anyway everything primed and painted with Eastwood Extreme Black It'll hang for a few days.
