Hello! I lurk here a lot but don't post much.
This past weekend my family and I took a day trip around Colorado with our friends Lincoln and his wife. We were in my 2004 4Runner and Lincoln was in his 2011 Tacoma.
The mission was to meet up mid morning on Sunday, hit some cool roads and eventually find the hot dog shaped hot dog stand in Bailey for lunch.
We first met up at the Lowes parking lot in Castle Rock at 10AM Sunday. We shoved off for Sedalia with Lincoln leading the way. At Sedalia we hopped on CO 67 all the way to CR 97, which we then followed the Platte River south for a bit. We took a right turn at Deckers and stayed on Deckers Road until Buffalo Creek. Then took Buffalo Creek road to Wellington Lake. There was a portion of the road that was pretty hairy but very fun! After reaching the lake we took CR 68 all the way to Bailey and found the hot dog stand was CLOSED!! DOH! Oh well, the trip was very very fun. We eventually went up 285 and found some grub in Conifer.
Here's the pics:
Here's my beautiful wheelin' partner:
I forget where this was taken, but it was earlier in the day:
The Platte River near Deckers:
Deckers pit stop:
Lincoln putting his GoPro on after we turned on Buffalo Creek Road:
Time to roll again:
Saw some deer along the way:
Almost there! I could smell the hot dogs!
....and....closed! DOH!
