OK the back up alarm me & my son installed last sept died a slow death over the course of the winter

the colder it got, the worse it sounded until it died

the old unit which was very loud, more treble sound

so I upgraded after returning the defective one to the parts store & paid the price difference, this one is supposedly commercial, hopefully it lasts

& got a toggle switch for those roof LED's

video of the new backup alarm later

with all my therapy visits lately I havent had time for anything nor felt in the mood

had a little while to run the wire up under the head liner while waiting today...

top of door where it enter rig

so I dug out the handy little tool

got the wire to the fuse panel & wasn't sure which way to go from here

finally decided to tuck it into the dash area, need to find an accessory here

it'll be good to use these soon

I almost always use my other GPS devices when needed

the kids all have android tablets & I wanted one too, as such happened BlueHash was selling his, so I got it

so I got the tablet which arrived like lightning & packaged like fort knox (thank you, it was glad to see he cared) as I do myself

set it all up for emails, twitter, instagram etc

so then a couple of day ago I thought again about it as an alternative mapping device

since he seemed to used it for mapping & not my first intention, I thought what the heck I'll try it to

though you need a bluetooth gps to use it away from internet

as such I spent more time downloading topo maps from the USGS site than it took to install the app ~ http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/usgs...rd&carea=$ROOT&layout=6_1_61_48&uiarea=2)/.do

in a few hours of casual downloading I got Rutland, & parts of Bennington & Addison counties downloaded to the micro SD card

so here's my lame video from there on out of my trial & tribulations

this may work for you & your needs, maybe I'm too fussy etc

I have never tried any of the other apps that are available, but have heard great things about backwoods country app

went to my daughters school to walk upright with those embarassing hiking poles, my kid thought I looked neat, I say nay

& of course the rig

went out to fern lake its still half frozen, & then back onto that road i was almost stuck a week or 2 ago, where the road dissappears

sad people cant obey the law

my oldest daughter spotted a skull on the side of the road & had to go check it out

its a pig or boar lower jaw bone, she's soaking it in a bucket filled with bleach & water

& the lonely windmill, looks to power the water pump beneath, probably for the farm up the road a spell

& on the way home from that area the view to the East is amazing

Signs. Signs, Everywhere There's Signs

feeling in a comical mood

decided to head over to a local trail head so I could use my hiking poles as the doc prescribed, on hopefully flat terrain

little one loves to have her photo taken by the sign

noticed this nice looking stump, a reason to stop

at a junction we had this sign to the left

from there on out it was too steep for me, so we headed the couple hundred yards back to the rig

we decided to go explore Moosalamoo, & of course a sign to let you know

the road to Goshen dam was closed, so we headed for Voters Overlook, which too was closed

if I was thinking I should have gotten a photo of the closed signs :) to follow the then unknown theme

right past Moosalamoo campground there was supposed to be a geocahce & this sign

a mountain view, much better in autumn

since there was still snow on the ground & the girls thought it was too cold to hike any trail up there we headed back South to yet another sign

I wonder if the snow will ever melt

the family loves collecting Blueberries here in mid summer

did I say there was snow

shot across to FSR403

rig was sinking,(road wasnt ready to be traveled on) so we turned around, with a nice view of where we were

seems we were just here two falls ago picking blackberries & the beaver had done quite the number, deep enough to attract some trout ?

it was fun to get out today & stretch the legs

it is also insane that while out in nature we are also bombarded with signs like we have in civilization

isnt this what we go into the wilds to escape?

not sure of who's aware of overlandbound, he is an advocate for the hobby of overlanding

I ordered sequential #'s for my rig & trailer, the M416 trailers arrived
325 & 326
very nice quality & has some weight to it, not cheap by in any manner

got the tire carrier almost done, need to devise a way of bolting the tire(rim) onto the carrier

tried to use that hitch extension, that made the winch come out front so far I'd have no approach angle whatsoever

with the help of my dad doing the heavy lifting, we deiced to cut my front bumper up some, nice the winch is tighter to the frame

gonna sell that NFAB light bar since we moved the hellas to the front valence

here's our work & my dad wanted to be in the pic :)
