while at my parents house on Xmas day while waiting for dinner to cook, myself, Mojo, Mikie & his gf went up into our back woods

I edited out the section wear Mikie swore at me in this for splashing him...

had a longer video I thought of the trail climb up, but somehow the camera op didnt capture it & sadly I wasnt going to repeat that rough section as it killed me

Hahaha ripping it. What is it about kids nowadays not appreciating getting splashed lol.

My dad's been up for the holidays, says we have a ton of snow compared to out your way, nothing at his place either.

So sorry I havent been around, havent forgotten all of you here

thought the noise was from the front driveshaft U joints originally , so they've been replaced
started off as a clunk, pop, replaced cv axle & then learned wheel bearing had play so that was replaced too
now its the bum bum bum noise
someone suggested a broken belt in a tire?

or for sale $8K with winch, snatch blocks, straps, hi lift, 2 full size spares etc

my son replaced the drivers side wheel bearing, & cv axle for me & the passenger side wheel bearing as well as both front drive shaft U joints
no more noise
I think it was a combination of play or shall I say a little bit of play in each of these worn components

if anyone ever ventures here to VT be sure to check out my forum, loaded with useful VT info expeditionnorth.boards.net

Donated our ham radio services once again for the Covered Bridges Half Marathon in Quechee VT. Its about 65 miles from home, or an hours drive.

As usual we got our T shirts in order to be covered under the insurance for the event

Brought along my Wouxon KGUV8D this time in case I needed to exit the vehicle, its 5 watts worked perfectly. Maybe it's the 16” Nagoya antenna that is the fame.

Tuned the IC706MKIIG for the freq as well

Sadly the rain put a damper on things. They had 2250 registered runners but only 1800 actual racers left the staring line. I was at my checkpoint 10 again

My youngest helped me out & is now studying for her ham ticket as we speak. So in order to kill the boredom, since there was no radio traffic we played games like tic tac toe & talked

& then I was reminded by a sheriff that it I wasn't part of the race I had to leave, so up went my official vehicle signage

Earlier that morning on the way to our spot I added a mount to the top of our Yukon for the GoPro & tested it out. Here's that video
more overland videos later since this is working so neat

Poured on the way home, & was too tired for anything further

I've been hearing a slight noise coming from the rear every so often
decided it was time to re-do the rear since we redid the front last summer
I feel preventive maintenance goes a lot farther than waiting for the bad to happen
my little mike is becoming quite the mechanic, he had these done & bleed in about an hour, I guess my mentoring has paid off
he can use those skills on his jeep he is in the process of buying
so new rotors, ceramic pads, caliper & caliper brackets...
we had what appeared to be a ball bearing wedged in between the pad & rotor on the passengers side, not sure how that got there or how you could pick something up like that either????

the cheapest I could find the parts locally not counting the brake pads was $294
I ordered the parts direct from the manufacturers off amazon for $130 shipped, I got napa prem ceramics for $60 locally
I am so proud of him for always helping me out
soon he'll either lead or I'll follow behind him in his jeep
so now we're set once again

Fathers Day 6 19 2016 in the Green Mountain National Forest

Since it was my day (Fathers Day) I decided we would get out of the house and explore.
It was obvious that I wanted to revisit Bingo Brook again for its cold stream on such a humid summers day.

I sat on a rock taking pictures & videos of the kids and the stream

The girls got wet and swam around for a few minutes complaining it was cold, but not cold enough to keep them out of it for sure.

The river level is extremely low this year and last. In an area that is normally covered under a couple feet of water I found this USGS bench mark

Noticed by now the rig was all lonely looking LOL and the girls were done getting wet

On the way back to the rig I found some wild rhubarb

I mounted on the GoPro and away we went into town

Sadly its battery died without me knowing so everything I thought I was capturing didn't.

So instead of coming directly home we decided to go to Rochester to get some snacks and sit in the park for a spell

It was so nice to sit at a picnic and let the feeling back into my leg

From there I decided I wanted to explore Charlie Wilson Rd as I heard it's a good 4x4 trail, it was more of a gravel road until you got to one spot, you'll see

So up and over bethel Gap we went

Someone goofed their job up, no don't adjust your screen LOL

We found the road easily enough

Just too rough on my back…

Now we decided it was time to head home, so back tracking we went

Once on RT73W

Mt Horrid on Brandon gap RT73, see I can go topless too LOL

Now to get this posted...

he is all psyched, my parents are leaving the roof rack on for him

& I have a stereo & boom box he can add as well, so tunes will be covered

so I know when to stay off the sidewalks haha
