No, they should not. Many of them are an important detail in the history of the Cold War and a number were hardened against nuclear blasts and functioned as Ground Entry Points for radio signals from the National Emergency Airborne Command Post that were similar to this EC-135 based on the venerable Boeing 707

But wouldn't that piss off the new owners of all those towers? AT&T sold them. They can't take them down, its not their property!

not technically abandoned, but derelict.... one of the gun emplacements at Point du Hoc, where the Rangers assaulted on D-Day at great risk and cost, only to find the Germans had moved the artillery further inland...

I disagree. The more people that know about some of these relics the more likely they are to be vandalized. Unfortunately there are a lot of ************** in this world that can't respect these sites.

How about a referral system?
A few years back, a website called "demonoid" - which hosted pirated software, movies, etc - avoided malicious users, (who would spread viruses) and prosecution, by requiring new members to:
1) be nominated by an existing member
2) contribute to the site before having access to downloads
3) continue contributing to retain access.
Obviously there are a lot of differences, but the idea of restricting an online map to qualified or responsible strangers is interesting. I'd be willing to bet there's a way to do that with a thread here, and then maybe PM between members to get passwords to access a google doc? I'll look into it.
The advantages of being able to share these places with other responsible, trustworthy adventurers seem to be worth the potential "bad egg".

We have that now....its the network of friends and associates here on ExPo.
You see something you want to go to, you research all you can, and reach out to your friends and contacts here on ExPo and learn more from them. I recently put together exactly this kind of trip, where we didn't (initially) have any locations other than a general area, but after a couple of weeks of diligent searching, and reaching out to others, we got what we needed and had a great trip.
