You're right, but once you build it, sometimes it's cheaper and fun to go out with the "big boys" and their "toys" and show them what a camping rig can do. My last thing I need to do is my gas tank skid and then I'm all set for following along



and busting out the canopy, stove, and grilled cheeses for lunch when I do with a cold soda. Bam

Goota remember that armour is not only good for offroad, but on road too
The nerf bars on the Dodge does the job offroad for rocks, but did an even better job at deflecting the drunk that tried to drive under it...if not for the bars, he may have went under and flipped us....sooo..always use protection..:victory:

Depends on how agressive and or confident you are. The thing about sliders is, you probably won't realize you need them until AFTER you need them...

I hit the rocker on my F350 and only did a small amount of damage. But it was pretty ugly to look at and the door seal leaked after that.

If it's a bad enough hit, I guess it might even prevent the door from opening or closing properly.

That was one of the first mods I did to my XJ. Cost less than 100 bux for materials and a couple of afternoons with the welder. Pretty cheap insurance if you ask me....

I also stand on mine regularly....I use them to pull myself up and out from under the car when under it instead of sliding out on the ground, and of course, sometimes peace of mind has a price.

nice, always like the Jeeps, i helped a buddy build up his for overland, i stiched the awning myself as i have canvas experiance and a machine.... now to only make one for myself
