AEV Brute Double Cab

If Jeep can produce and sell that to the US crowd, there is no reason Toyota couldn't bring the HZJ79 series Land Cruiser pickups.

You know the ones you see all over the Libyan rebellion news with massive guns and missle launchers attached? Yeah...

I hope Jeep does it, if just to make Toyota rethink their HD utility pickup market.

Here's a tidbit I have not seen mentioned elsewhere:
" First dibs will go to current owners of AEV vehicles, then after the initial batch is called for, authorized dealers will begin opening up the ordering process to the public."
AEV has dealers in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and northern California

One more size comparison

AEV Brute Double Cab
wheelbase 139 inches
overall length 216 inches
Interior of pickup bed 61"L x 60"W
width 74 inches, maybe wider due to big wheels and tires

Land Rover Defender 130 Double Cab
wheelbase 127 inches
overall length 204 inches
Interior of pickup bed 65"L x 55"W
width 70 inches

The reason they hadn't produced a JK Brute till this point was because Chrysler was going back and forth over whether they were going to offer a JK pickup. There would be no market for a fully custom AEV Brute if there was a similar factory offering. I think the fact that this Brute exists is because Jeep finally told AEV that they will not be producing a truck and gave them the green light. Granted if this creates the buzz it likely will, and becomes a sales success, they could rethink that.

AEV starts with a four-door JK Wrangler
then stretches the wheelbase 23 inches to 139 inches.
Overall vehicle length is up 30 inches to 216 inches
Interior dimensions of the truck bed are 61”L x 60”W
Wrangler width is unchanged at 74 inches
...

This very well may prompt the retirement of the Comanche :coffee:

Is it just me or does anybody else think these quad-cab short-bed trucks have too much cab and not enough truck? I wonder if they'd offer a wrangler pickup with a more useful six foot bed and a single cab?

I am one of those people that prefer more Jeep then truck ratio. I the TJ Brute and the JK version are about a perfect mix for me. My LJ doesn't quite have enough bed space.

I Actually even think it would look great with the full rear doors, but in a super short bed- think Defender 110 crew cab pick up.

why buy this when you could buy an H3T Alpha with the v8 front and rear locking diffs etc.

Your H3T is pretty nice, but as a VLA (very large american), the entire Hummer lineup is way undersized in the interior cabin space....and you can't see out the portals nearly as well as you can in a Jeep.

And by undersized, I mean things like the enormous shift lever that likes to dig holes in my thigh, and odd ball spatial issues like that.

A new photo is available from the AEV web site

Looks like a Dynatrac front axle is being used, maybe their new ProRock 44.

I have to agree in that regard. The Hummer guys were out of their minds when designing the interior. Being 6'4" I love the beefy steering wheel and shifter but the space in the back is terrible. I guess it doesn't bother me as much usually since I dont have a back seat in a lot of the time and use it for my dog/ storage and soon to come a storage drawer system

I just passed a H3T today and I found it anything but large. Looked about the same size as the AEV.:coffeedrink:
