Does it come with a locking rear diff? Trucktrend does not mention it and Edmunds says it's included.

yes. You can see the e-locker solenoid on the new axle

Different air filter box. Maybe no cylone prefilter is possible now?

Dang crossover exhaust is still there but I can clearly see the E-Locker activation solenoid!

Rear shocks look to have the same lower mounts.

No solenoid on the transfer case!

Toyota Steps up

I think Toyota really stepped up on this one. I really like this new 4Runner. They did a great job. I wonder when they will hit the streets and the trails?

This truck is much nicer then I expected. Hopefully aftermarket suppliers will jump on this truck as quickly as they did with the FJ Cruiser.

I like it too...

If it's as tall as it looks (stock), about as high as the FJC or taller, then that is a great step back to the the 4Runner's roots. As much as I love my 4th Gen V8, the 4th Gens are very low without a lift.

A little body damage or not, if they can take a mostly stock 5th Gen on the Rubicon I'm very impressed. :victory:

It will take me a while to warm-up to the new interior but it looks okay. My only real dislike is the brake/tail lenses that stick out like the FJC, I still don't care for this on the FJC, looks clown-ish to me.

If the FJC is going away as we have all heard, this is a great single replacement for two vehicles. I can see these getting quicker/better aftermarket support than the mall crawler 4th Gens.

Here's the article from letlanenews.

Truthfully, I still like my 3rd gen 4runner but I do like the looks of this model compared to the 4th gen. The trail edition version looks nices and the the dash layout on the sr5 and trail edition looks better than the limited.

Limitied gets the electric 4wd/awd opition. SR5 and trail edition get a manual case.:sombrero:

What's that the rubicon that it was on and it looks like it has functional sliders. :sombrero:

Scott,

I went to the unvailing today here in Dallas and I am very impressed with the vehicle.

A few things that need changed are the way the headlight (which look very close to the FJ headlights in design) and the Tailights (which also look very similar to the FJ). They stick out just like the FJ does. Of course the same designer for both vehicles would explain that. I really think he did a good job on them and the sliding tray in the cargo area of this new FJ rocks.

The ground clearance looked to be very good and I agree a basically stock 4Runner doing the Rubicon with the exception of tires and sliders.

Overall I think Toyota did this right. They listened to a lot of the comments from the real world and made the changes they could. I can't wait to drive one.

A V-8 option in the future would be nice too. I really like the power mine has with a V-8.

Looks sweet... I'm diggin' it so far! I really like the sliding platform in the cargo area. Anyone know if the floor is flat once the rear seats are folded?
