All new 2010 4runner revealed...

The one thing I don't get is the 4cyl. If they offered it with a manual transmission, that would be fine. But I would imagine the 4 cyl/automatic 4x4 combo would be very sluggish and not much fun to drive, without really giving much in the way of superior MPG.

Who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Toyota has done surprising things before. I just think that a 4 cyl with the 6 speed manual from the FJC would probably make a pretty neat little economy 4x4 without seriously compromising off-road ability.
If its anything like the 2.7 highlander it will have a 6speed auto, the gearing kinda makes up for the lack of power.

Same here. I thought I would be driving the 100 series for another 20 years, now probably just another 10. This is giving me something else to consider. I like the size, the water proof seats, the factory rear diff lock, crawl control, kdss, additional safety features, fuel economy, etc...

I think (hope) Toyota will be surprised by the number of trail grades they sell.

Very cool.

4wd controls in the ceiling.

Hmmm, I found this gallery online, and it looks from these pictures like its electronically-selected 4WD. Maybe they'll be offering both options??

Yep, they will be offering both. The electric dial for the soft palm flit boys that have to have a Limited and a lever for the dudes with the SR5's and Trail editions. All fun aside, I think it is great that Toyota offers both.

Toyota put up a lot of great Youtubes on the new 4Runner. Check them out..

This feels like the excitement when the 4-Door Jeep Rubicon was announced. The 4-door Rubicon was the ONLY truck (body on frame SUV) this year to have a sales increase. It just shows that many consumers want performance and durability more than fluff.

I am going to work hard to get a test unit soon. I contacted my Toyota media resource today.

This is the first new Toyota since the 4-door Tacoma that has me completely jazzed! :wings:

Does this mean the SR5/TE does NOT get the AWD/FT 4WD option? (meaning no center diff?). Just like the 99-00 4Runners?

Couldn't tell ya.

I read that over on leftlane news and if you look at those pictures you can see the manual shift lever in some of the photos.

If you get your hands on one to test that would be sweet. :smiley_drive::drool:

The new look is niiiiice. I really like this one. It appears to be very capable in nearly stock form. I dig that slide in the rear.

This truck is much nicer then I expected. Hopefully aftermarket suppliers will jump on this truck as quickly as they did with the FJ Cruiser.

It looks like making custom bumpers for the front and rear is going to be difficult, and on the large side if done at all, will be interesting to see what comes available.
