Dammit John! You keep posting this stuff and you're going to drive me to a life of crime to afford one.
I dunno, Kerry. After seeing that pic of your truck with the kayaks on the roof and all the family on board for a family weekend away ..... I think you've got your priorities in order, just the way they are.
Yeah Mick. No worries. We've got 2 other jobs going as well that I'll try and post some pics of later.
One is Stage 1 of Oz101's( from ExPo) but I 'll post them in his build thread that he started. At this stage it will be a LWB FG84 with a full length covered tray that he can use to cart his quads and also use as a work truck during the week. We've already mounted the tray he supplied and now he's taken it back to do some more work on it. I pre-fitted up his bullbar today but am still waiting for the APE 12000lb winch to turn up.
He's been the easiest customer I think we've ever had. As a successful builder he must be used to solving problems and making good decisions. Wish they we're all as understanding. We 're hoping to keep doing things on his truck in stages when he's not using it. Very nice guy. Can see why he's doing so well. He 's a bit of a techno junkie too and has helped us do alot of research into the new FG's.
It'll have a very comprehensive audio, nav, phone, camera system. Mainly Alpine. Dual mode cruise control wired direct into the ECU > "60/80/100/off" preset speed limiter or normal "set/resume" mode, remote central locking, electric windows (all Fuso parts out of Japan and we mod the harness), 220 litres of water for now, hotwater system, shower, LED lighting in the back, SRW of course, dual Fuso fuel tanks, and a 5 link coil front end. That's stage 1. Eventually we'll finish the rear suspension and put on a pop top body that can quick change with the tray (read OZ101's build thread).
The other big job is a Round The World truck that we were asked to build but with the other jobs on we said we wouldn't be able to finish it all in his time frame. As a result the guy has taken his next best option which was to have us build the truck and he's getting one of the well known offroad caravan builders to build the body. We built 2 floor frames the same and sent one down to them to build the body on while we continue working on the truck. Heaps of fuel in big alloy tanks, lots of water with filtration, all the stuff to cope with everything from Ice Trucker roads to Safari in Africa. Full bar covered cab. This is the one with the 16,500lb Warn.
He's planing a 4 and a half year trip so it'll have to be tough.
So yeah Mick I'll keep you posted. Actually Oz101 will eventually need a trailer for his quads when he gets Scout. Have you got any ideas?? I was going to send you a PM about this but maybe someone else might have seen something around. Offroad of course and with 19'5"wheels and same track as the FG. Mick?? Anyone???
