How about the next challenge.....sleeping two people IN a SWB jeep! And you have to not hate her in the morning....and she can't hate you, ok, I admit that might be hard.

Ok, I finally have some pictures of this thing in action. I have now slept in it a handfull of time and I must say they have being some of the best sleeps of my life. I have found it is much better with a thermarest on top of the canvas, it helps distribute the weight a little better.

I have slept with two and it works pretty well. Definatly wouldn't want it do it with someone you didn't want to be close to as you tend to slide together. (on this preticular trip I didn't mind at all)

I do have a couple of army issue aluminum frame folding cots that might serve this purpose VERY well... now my wheels are turnin!

I defiantly think it could be achieved in any truck. I can't remember but I am not sure if in my old xj's the seats would fold down as flat as in the TJ. Especially with the rear folded forward.

I am currently working on adapting my design for use in a suburban with no rear seats. The one big struggle I am having is no easy access to mounting points.

The other idea that my brother in law had was to use this instead of a sleeping platform in his truck. Less permanent, easier to fold up and store when he needs the bed of the truck.

I have finally put my soft top back on the jeep and am going to hopefully be able to sleep out under the stars this weekend. I have tried it out in the driveway and the improved head room makes a huge difference. Especially on the getting in and out.

I have a 6ft bed in the back of my Tj that folds into a 3ft rear storage.
Cost about 70 bucks. Sleeps two. Now I just need to get a self inflating mattress.

I dont know if this is helpful or not, but I have a twin sized air matress that I got at target a few years ago, and it fits within the wheelwells of the XJ with less than an inch on each side, and would only just rub on the center console. At least that's what my measurements said, I cant try it. There's a spare tire in the way.

i have a friend that hangs a hammock in his XJ... he has an internal cage and suspends it from the a and d pillar crossbars.

It is defiantly possible to make it work in a SUV without a roll cage. It is also going to be a lot more comfortable, I always forget how small TJ's are after looking in bigger trucks.

I pulled all the plastic away in the suburban this weekend and thinking of welding those O lag bolts to the metal then drilling out the plastic and reattaching it. Instead of hanging it from the roof line thou we are looking at mounting points under the rear windows. It should be enough support of the cot as well as make some useful tie down spots for gear. As well it means some better head room, and with the abundance of space in a suburban it isn't as necessary to have storage below.
