More fun with wire loom and zip-ties

Like it was made for these lights - Wait, it was!

Felt kinda clever about this one - for the penetration into the box, I got a 3/4" seal-tite elbow, cut the threads off of one end, and attached the other end through the wall of the ambo with a little extra sikaflex for good measure. Once the wires were through, I packed the annular space around the wires full of sealant. Seems pretty bomber.

Still need to align them, have to do that at night sometime. Also, ran them all off a single switch and relay - I tried to think of when I would want 2 lights on and not 4, and couldn't come up with a good reason not to switch them all on at once.

Work continues...

all 4 on the same switch/relay will be a good test for you electrical system. They will stress even your wiring when then all try to start at once.

I guess I'll see, the relay is rated for 40a, quick math sez a 20a fuse/breaker will work, and I ran 10gage wire from the relay to the point that the wiring splits into 4 individual wires. If I have a problem, I have a some capacity to run a bigger fuse, but they worked when tested. I can always split it if I need to.

Sometimes when you write something after a couple-o-beers it seems funny, but the next day it seems somewhat inappropriate. Didn't want to pervert your thread. I still laugh though when I read that post.

Inappropriate???? Life goes by way too fast to worry about political correctness. Let it fly man!

12v done (mostly...)

Pretty much finished up the 12v install, devices need to go in after finishes, but distribution is done.

Added a Blue Sea fusebox for the loads I want on house power, but on always, not switched by the house master

Things like the cab warning lights letting me know if there is a compartment or a back door open.
m_P8010019_zps94ed8504.jpg

Also hooked up the sending unit from the transfer case so I got lights if I am in 4x4 - This has been a huge annoyance in the past
-
Compressor also got reinstalled. This is one of those items Chris spent a good deal of time installing when he did the 4x4 conversion in his shop, and which I almost immediately ripped out once I got back home

He made this really cool custom shelf, which I chopped up and rejiggered

m_P8010009_zpsfe50cc71.jpg

Got a couple inches of room under the shelf now to store/lose stuff
m_P8010012_zps0afd3f49.jpg

-
The compressor comes with a 6 gage supply wire, Chris ran the extension with 4 gage, but it is a long run, and I had 2 gage in my garage off my last job, so why not? Kinda had to take the long way into the electrical cabinet from the top, not much room in the bottom port

This thing pulls a lot of air, so I needed to vent the compartment. I also needed to remove the vent into the box above, so two birds at once

Got an air distribution manifold coming from Grainger, so I'll tidy up the last of that next week
m_P8030039_zpsee62f4ae.jpg

-
BTW, getting to the attachment bolts for the compressor was a pretty good trick - Welded the studs from below since I couldn't get a wrench in them, but getting the nuts on the top was a head scratcher. Stuck the whole bolt/washer assembly together with butyl tape, used a wobble socket, and a long extension - Like a monkey digging out termites with a stick

-
Finally, did the last of the tidying up of the main electrical panel - I can stand to look at it now. Similar stuff behind the switch panel in the cab, and the routing of the cabling running from the box. Been bugging me for years now.

120 v install next, and the inverter/charger to tie it all together

Looks great Tony and pictures usually don't do justice to the work involved behind electrical projects!

Curious, are these relays on those middle green boards? If they are,
why are you using so many? Unless you didn't convert most of your lights to LED? I see you have some HID and a compressor but looks like you still have quite a few relays...

Yup, pretty productive you are!

Cheers

The biggest issue seems to be the voltage drop on strike. My son's truck has the same lights, but not near the same grade install from the DPO (mine would be better than his but not as good as yours). He has to be high idle or better to get them to all strike. They will spike a ton of current on start but then they run on almost nothing.

OK thats it. I am never parking beside you again. I got enough crap about your awning being better than mine.

Imagine the avalanche of crap I will get when they look at all the rest of your build.

Let me know if you want to split them onto 2 relays but only have a single switch. I can probably hook you up with how to put a delay timer on one of the relays.
