Use the heated filter. The veggie oil gets very very thick when cold.

Yes, moving along! We had good weather, the days are getting longer and I kinda got to escape from kids and wife

Before carrying on with the Espar/water system I had to work some more on the veggie conversion. Both systems are somewhat linked together so made sense to figure exactly where everything would mount...

First thing, get that frame all cleaned up and painted with Por-15. Same for the veggie skid plate. Might as well get started with mounting the valves, filters and some fuel/coolant lines...

Doesn't seem like much but took quite a while to get it all installed. Most of it is done. Just need to tap into the coolant lines and build an aluminum veggie fuel tank. If anyone is interested in the WVO details let me know and I can go more in depth.


I kinda got distracted along the way... Since I already had the Por-15 cracked open, I figured I should share the love

Next in line, coolant plumbing...

It depends on your expectations. If you use standard POR-15 as a finish coat, and it will be exposed to direct sunlight, it will lose it's blackness and take on a purple-ish tint. In this scenario you have to put down your por-15 and then use por-15 topcoat. I believe you can use regular paint as well but it's been awhile since I've dealt with the product. I know there are some gotchas to using a topcoat. You have procedures to follow and a limited time frame to get it on before the por-15 base coat dries too much. It's all on their website.

I've read the same where it doesn't do great with UV so no concerns for the Ambo. As for my Patrol I simply add layers of spray paint as needed

POR 15 in direct sun goes from gloss to flat in about 7 months. It is an amazing paint product, but it is NOT a topcoat. They do sell a UV clear for it, I simply sand it and use other stuff on top.

Pretty much...lol. The stuff under my trailer is still glossy and shiny after 2 years. The stuff on my swing out tire carrier in direct sun is flat after maybe 6 months. Still in great shape, just no gloss retention. The semi gloss paint I used on my brush bar over 4 years has maybe dropped 25% sheen in that time.

Great paint however, love the POR15!

He threw in a few cans as part of the deal.
